    Valiantone pedal assembly rebuild-AWESOME!

Hey, thanks for the kudos Michael! As Michael mentioned I have not previously made bushings for the HD units as I did not have a pedals set up to model them on. Mr. Baird was kind enough to send me his so I could get the measurements needed. His clutch and brake pivot shafts were badly worn so...

Need help with clutch linkage parts

2nd Brewers. I must have $5-7 hunnert bucks or more in linkages and z bars, covers and inspection plates, boots, clips, hardware etc. etc. etc. from them. They have just about all of it though. as for linkages there is one from your pedal assy to the z bar, and one from the z bar to the clutch...

    Factory bell housing bolts?

the bolt on the right is exactly what I used. I sourced them from my 77 Cordoba. I wouldn't used the one on the left without a washer though.

    Factory bell housing bolts?

They are different. I don't remember how, but I do remember not being able to use my auto trans bolts when i did the swap.

    Factory bell housing bolts?

Ooops, I meant grade 5, like krazykuda mentioned (not three, where'd that come from??!) I do remember they weren't grade 8. Although there is no reason not to use 8.

Blu I didn't think the 4.805 retainer worked on the O/D trans. Am I mistaken?

Various retainer sizes and the adapter ring at the bottom of the page. Brewer's Performance - Mopar A833 4-Speed Transmission and Component Specialists Doesn't look like he carries the 5.125 retainers He does carry the bell though Brewer's Performance - Mopar A833 4-Speed Transmission and...

    4 speed conversion

Okay, if you have the 5.125 retainer you should have the 833 overdrive or O/D transmission. You cant put a smaller bearing retainer on the O/D trans if I remember correctly. Best bet is to find an O/D bell housing. Someone here will have one. Second, i believe you can machine your bell to fit...

    4 speed conversion

Yes and yes. Measure the bearing retainer and measure the bell. What are the measurements on each. The bell can be machined to fit the retainer. There are also smaller (adapter) retainers, but not all will work with all transes. Measure what you have and let us know. Best CE

4 speed pedal bushing and bearing replacement

Thanks for mentioning it! I am actually getting ready to do a new run of brake bushings as I have a fabo member that needs a pair. I have not done bronze brake bushings for anyone that has the HD roller bearing clutch bushings yet. I am pretty sure the brake bushings are the same though. It'd...

My A-833 Is stuck in Overdrive. Need advice/help ASAP, please!

Good place to start (linkages) in addition to the shifter. I had a similar situation where i had put a shifter rod on wrong and it would only go in or out of one gear. Maybe one of the rods on yous came off.

    Clutch advise

Yep, using it in my 273 as of last summer. It is okay. The diaphragm type spring is weird to get used to. I don't much care for it. Removing the overcenter spring was a pita. I will go back to the borg and beck type when I have to change out this clutch. Oh, and the clutch engages vey high on...

Think I need a new clutch

If you like the diaphragm then you could step up to the Centerforce. Brewers has em'. I just swithced to to a McLeod diaphragm and I'm have a lot of trouble getting used to it. The pedal pressure changes over the course of the pedal throw and i find it hard to be consistent with it. When I do...

Street Pro McLeod Clutch, thoughts and questions

Hey All, Today I installed my new McLeod street pro diaphragm style clutch. I have only driven it a few miles so I don't have a fully developed opinion yet, but boy is it different. Pedal pressure is greatly reduced. And pedal effort drops as you go past the center of travel too. It is going to...

    Diaphragm vs. Borg and Beck.............

Well I had no idea what was going to transpire when i asked my question. Lol. So my original postulation of, "neither side can agree on JACK!", has indeed proved to be true here on FABO too...... As mentioned I went with the McLeod diaphragm, scalloped plate, etc. Somehow I think it wil...

    Diaphragm vs. Borg and Beck.............

With all due respect, i want to keep th oc spring in case i ever have to use it again. The wahser method is so simple. I make bronze brake and clutch pedal bushings (and sell them) and thus have had many clutch springs out many times. It ain't that hard. Best

    Diaphragm vs. Borg and Beck.............

And the chances of it being driven 100k by me are slim. I've had the car 9 years now and noted to the wife on our last cruise, "huh, I've just turned 10k miles since i bought this car." At this rate it'd be 90 years to go 100k and i just don't see that happening! :) Although, once I achieve my...

Well, I ended up ordering a diaphragm McLeod from Brewers. We'll see how she goes.
