    Educate me on 5.9 Magnum Roller Rockers

    I've been researching this as well. I like the looks of the Hughes the best but man are they expensive! $760. They are 1.65 ratio so I would need to make sure I have enough piston to valve clearance for that. My cam is currently .507/.513 so 1.65 would take that to .523/.530. I've also looked...

    Which intake is better Eddy air gap or M1 dual plane for the magnum?

    I vote Air Gap. My magnum powered 71 Dart has run 7.47 in the eighth with the air gap which should be good for an 11 second time slip in the 1/4. Also very good street driving and throttle response.

    High Mileage Magnum

    Mine came out of a 2001 dodge 1500 with 92,000 miles. Pulled the heads and the cylinder bores looked new with no ring ridge. It's still running strong in the dart. I've put almost 26,000 miles on it and who knows how many 1/4 and 1/8 mile passes and still doesn't use any oil.

    360/380 hp crate motor RPM range

    I built my junkyard magnum 5.9 to basically clone the 380 HP crate engine. Mine ETs best shifting at 6,000 RPM.

    5.9 Weighted Flexplate

    My 2001 magnum 5.9 had a weighted flex plate so I mated it to my 904 with a neutral converter. Did have to enlongate one hole though.

    Need help with magnum 360 block 402/435 hp crate motor tech info

    Yeah that 7.77 run was a 1.64 60 ft. The car has always 60ft better than it should considering my ETs and MPH. Not sure why that is but I guess I shouldn't complain.... I think the 60ft is where most people struggle.

    Need help with magnum 360 block 402/435 hp crate motor tech info

    Depends, how much street and how much strip? How fast you want to go at strip? How much money you have to spend on a good converter? I have a nearly identical cam in my 5.9 junkyard magnum build. I'm running a 3.91 gear and 275/60/15 which is approx 28 inches tall. This is a good compromise...

    EQ Heads and stock rocker arms?

    To answer the original question, yes your stock rockers will work with EQ heads. That's what I'm running. I'm running a comp push rod that is a little shorter to compensate for the custom ground comp cam I'm running. Eventually I'll go to some roller rockers but I've been running these stock...

    Anyone running 545 lift cam with EQ heads and stock bottom end?

    I'm running Hughes 1110 springs and retainers but not sure if it's the "new" ones you are talking about. Put this engine together 3 or 4 years ago.

    Anyone running 545 lift cam with EQ heads and stock bottom end?

    I've also been looking at these from Hughes. They are 1.65 ratio which would give me 523/530 lift. They run 2 rockers per shaft and don't require guide plates. Maybe these wouldn't be pushing the limits as hard. Hughes Engines

    Anyone running 545 lift cam with EQ heads and stock bottom end?

    When I built my 5.9 magnum engine I planned on running stock magnum heads so my camshaft is 230/234 duration at 0.50 and 507/513 lift. I have since switched to EQ heads but still running stock magnum 1.6 ratio rocker arms. I am in the market for some roller rockers and have been looking at the...

    Taller Valve Covers with Roller Rockers

    Thanks for the replies. I've got some chrome LA valve covers that will probably work. Was just hoping to keep the stock magnums because it confused everyone at the track when trying to sneak a peak under my hood.

    Taller Valve Covers with Roller Rockers

    Hey guys, I just ordered new EQ heads and stainless roller rockers from Magnum Mopar (thanks Evan). What are people running for a taller valve cover with the roller rockers? Most aftermarket I'm finding say stock height. Can I just cut the baffles out of my stock 5.9 valve covers? If I get new...

    Roller rocker choice for 380 crate

    I know that the stock ratio is 1.6. My cam is .507/.514 lift according to 1.6 rocker ratio.

    Roller rocker choice for 380 crate

    I was also looking at these shaft rockers from Hughes. I currently have stock magnum heads with the factory pedestal mounts and Hughes 1110 springs. My cam has .507/.514 lift. With these 1.65 ratio rocks my lift would go to .523/.530 according to my math looking at my lobe lift from my cam card...

    LA 318 to Magnum 360 swap

    A body is correct, la roller cam so you can run mechanical fuel pump that's what I did. I wonder why comp is confused by that? Try talking to a different tech maybe?

    using mechanical pump?

    I actually talked to Oregon and Bullet so I'm not an idiot like you think. Neither company could get the LSA to 110 like I wanted. Stock Magnum cams are mostly 114 LSA and they can't grind them to 110. Mine was a budget build but I was willing to pay good money for the cam I wanted.

    LA 318 to Magnum 360 swap

    I did a similar build (stock bottom end magnum) you should check clearances on rod and main bearings before dropping in. My motor looked beautiful and the cylinders still had cross hatching but I still had to do Rod and Main bearings before dropping in. Go back to the junk yard and find a...

    using mechanical pump?

    You are correct any LA style cam will work with no Hughes snout extension, I just wanted the custom grind. It wasn't cheap, I think I paid $380 to my door. I just prefer custom grind to my specs rather than off the shelf. They provided the core for that price.
  29. Walker434

    using mechanical pump?

    I know you said you're on a budget but I had Comp cams custom grind my cam on an LA core so it is long enough to use the eccentric so I didn't have to fool with the extension from Hughes.

    tuning a magnum

    I have a very similar combo and had a very similar problem. Mine is stock 5.9 mag bottom end. I have a custom ground comp cam with very similar specs to yours, stock heads with some touch up work, edelbrock air gap, Holley 750 DP, cheap headers. I did use a mechanical fuel pump though. I...
