Info for non-HP engines is not easy to find and not easy to verify, especially the LA roller and early 1980's stuff. Some info for Magnum (roller small block) engines is not super easy to find or verify either.

I was under the impression the 5.2 and 5.9 Magnum roller cams were a bit hotter than the LA roller cam, which did, in fact look pretty near identical to the FT pre- LA roller cam. I've asked in a few places if the LA roller version at least had faster ramps to take advantage of the rollers, but...

I never rotate any tires left to right. I've found that I get fewer "busted belts" that way.

Dakota R/T 9 1/4 axles are actually 3.92:1 standard but could be ordered with a few different ratios.

To the OP- I know it's a lot of work, but have you considered putting all the good stuff on the R/T cab? That way it would still legally be a "real" R/T. Re-framing is not for the faint of heart, but labor wise swapping the drive-train is starting to approach the same job.

Have you killed a Dakota R/T trans? I've heard from more than one credible source that they are built differently, although not sure how. They were built during the era where it seemed no one could build a trans that lasted more than 50K. However, I've found mine to be extremely durable...

File a grievance. IHRA may issue a reprimand or at least a warning. You should at least get a free entry next time. ...of course you'll then always be "that guy" to the track owners.

Is it sanctioned? If so, by who? Is there a rule book? Fairly common issue, should be addressed by rules, if there are any.

Used to do it "all the time" back in HS auto shop with a special purpose sand blast cabinet just for doing that.
