I finally had time to get new wheels on the Dart the fronts are 17x8 with 5in. backspace. The front tires are 245 40 R17. The rear are the same size rims with 245 45 R17

What type disc brakes are you using up front?

That's one of the reasons I wanted to change wheels and go to 17" wheels to put a better tire up front. Summit is where I normally look just not a lot of selection for 5" backspace in a 17" wheel. I'll keep looking to find a wheel I like.

I went and double checked my front a 17x8 rim will work just not with a tire. The wheel and tire combo I have is 15x7 with 3 3/4 backspace, with a 195 60 r15 up front I remembered I tried to put a 225 60 r15 up front it wouldn't clear with that backspace. I do think I can clear a 205 60 r15. So...

Anymore back space than 5in. It will be close to upper control arm and I checked it turning lock to lock.

I actually have two Percy's wheel rites I'm going to use one for actual tire size and double check the front.

I think the reason I can fit the tire I think I can is I used welded and redrilled abody 8 3/4 axles and I already had to trim the quarter to fit my current rim and tire combo.

I measured my rear of my Dart Friday night a 17x8 with 5" backspace is tight on the leaf spring a 4.5 backspace fits a lot better I still have 1.5 on the quarter. Going to remeasure the rear and measure the front today.

I think I'm going to buy or borrow a Percy's Wheel Rite tool to see wheel tire combo will fit my car. I have some time before I want to do anything. Thanks for the information.

Where are some places or websites that have 17" rims with 5x4.5 and 5" backspacing? Summit Racing shows some but they are kind of pricy. Just kind of wondering. Thanks Brian

It should it, depends on rim back spacing. I have 245/60 15 on the back and I had to go to 195/60 15 on the front of my 68 Dart convertible. My big problem was rim back space mine are 3 3/4 inch. I should have bought 4 1/2 in back spacing.

Those are Summit Racing wheels I have the same wheels on my Dart convertible.

What did these wheels come from? What might they be worth? Two have good tires they other two are marginal. I only have two with center caps, the guy I got them from has two center caps from an American Motors that I can get.
