Can I upgrade my 68 Dart to a later style spool mount?

Yes. Did the conversion in my 68 Barracuda years ago. Also has the spool motor mount also. If you have automatic transmission lines. They may need to be changed since the spool mount is in the path of the 68-72 transmission lines.

Not stock. IIRC, for a Hurst Super Shifter. IIRC, requires straight non stock companion linkage.

Anyone recognize this 5 speed trans

Starter gear ratio would be 13.48. Comparing to an A833 with 2.66 1st and 3.91’s is 10.40 starting ratio. Did it have tall rear tires? How were the shifting qualities?

Anyone recognize this 5 speed trans

The Nash/Richmonds 5 speeds have 1:1 5th gear. They have deeper 1-4 gears. The OP seems to be looking at a Nash/Richmond 5 or 6 speed. So you run 2.71 to 3.23 rear gears but acts like much deeper gear. The notes on that Nash owners manual I posted are not mine. But you see where the...

    A833OD inspection results... thoughts?

Can you bore out a small diameter extension housing to large??
  23. autoxcuda

What to look for when inspecting A833OD?

Most expensive wear item and people don't fix in "rebuilt kits" is the gear engaging teeth (dog teeth). They should have some point to them. Same goes for the engaging teeth on the syncro rings. But those are much less expensive to replace and come with a true rebuild kit. Read more here...

    Craigslist 4 Speed - Something doesn't jive?

Yea. You most likely will need one of these adapter rings: Brewer's Performance - Mopar A833 4-Speed Transmission and Component Specialists Or Adapter Rings | Passon Performance | Get your SHIFT together! That trans you bought was only behind small block abodies. It has the smaller 4.35 OD...

    Craigslist 4 Speed - Something doesn't jive?

Spring Fling in 2 weeks should be good for all those items. I've seen new clutches there even. That is an abody trans so it has the very small bearing retainer diameter that no stock bellhousing had. I think Brewers and Passon make adapter rings. I don't think that eBay scatter shield is the...

    Craigslist 4 Speed - Something doesn't jive?

The ...126 tailshaft shows it's for a 30 spline large output shaft. You're good there. I assume you noticed that broken bearing retainer before you bought it. No surprise there. You're almost to the promised land depending on what the gears look like. Read here: Chrysler A-833 four speed...

I'd never go off the sellers "judgement" Did the side cover look like it was recently opened? They are not too hard to open. I opened one before I bought one at a Spring/Fall Fling. Next time open it up before you buy. But I think you could be ok. Open it and show the pics

    Craigslist 4 Speed - Something doesn't jive?

Show some pics of the input shaft and casting number of the tail housing. It's an a-body trans. If that is what you were looking for you got it. You can open it up and count the markings on the gears to verify the ratios being wide (2.66 1st) or close (2.44 1st). ID Guide is on the Brewer...
