Starter gear ratio would be 13.48. Comparing to an A833 with 2.66 1st and 3.91’s is 10.40 starting ratio. Did it have tall rear tires? How were the shifting qualities?

The Nash/Richmonds 5 speeds have 1:1 5th gear. They have deeper 1-4 gears. The OP seems to be looking at a Nash/Richmond 5 or 6 speed. So you run 2.71 to 3.23 rear gears but acts like much deeper gear. The notes on that Nash owners manual I posted are not mine. But you see where the...

Most expensive wear item and people don't fix in "rebuilt kits" is the gear engaging teeth (dog teeth). They should have some point to them. Same goes for the engaging teeth on the syncro rings. But those are much less expensive to replace and come with a true rebuild kit. Read more here...
