    Tilt column for 65 dart

That big, plastic ugly pile of crap from an 80's mopar would be a real mess in an early A body. You need a small tilt column with no ignition lock & a short tilt section. Ididit makes a decent one like this: Ididit retrofit column The mustang has the same issues with limited space for...

    Tilt column for 65 dart

We call those "Visa Card Hot Rods" - usually found parked on a trailer. I have used a couple of IdidIt columns in builds, and have been happy with the result. They make a universal tilt that should be small enough to fit well. B.

So where are these 500, 1966 Barracudas?

A complete set of cam specs are in the document. Not a bad cam with those valves in a 318. Remember that a broader power band is good for that sort of racing, and the car was to be sold to the public as a street car for homologation. I do wish there were better pics of the factory headers...

So where are these 500, 1966 Barracudas?

Thanks for all the pics. None of those appear to be FIA legal cars. I started to chase this after a trip to Goodwood a few years ago. This is actually how I wound up with a 1965 Barracuda in my driveway. We were at the Goodwood Revival, which is vintage racing with a cutoff at 1966...

So where are these 500, 1966 Barracudas?

FIA is the sanctioning body for much of European racing. Those cars would have been raced in road races all over europe. Here is the second page of the document that identifies the model as "Barracuda G.T." .

So where are these 500, 1966 Barracudas?

Surely one or two have survived right? I am talking about the 500 cars described in this document signed by H. E. Weiss & R. J. Cahill. Describing "In excess of 500 cars" produced between November 15th 1965 & December 15th 1965. Vin numbers B_29_6_ _ _ _ _ _ _ With engine numbers X31B_ _...

    1965 Dart bulb numbers

Dan: I took that bulb out of a hot rod with an $8,000 USD paint job. He thought he had done a great job "upgrading" the lighting. I keep a printed copy of NRS 484D.130 (5), and just happen to have a marker 500 feet from my shop... He was speechless when he got through with that little...

    1965 Dart bulb numbers

Dan: While we both loathe the LED "bulb replacements" on the market, perhaps this piece of crap can serve an actual purpose replacing the now discontinued 1095? It was alleged to be a replacement for an 1156, but of course comes no where near close. I removed that specimen from an...

Carb heat shield . . . anyone try this?

Just use the Edelbrock 2732 part. It won't raise the carb as much, and that makes the choke / linkage easier. Part of your problem maybe the fuel pump / plumbing. Just a tiny air leak (crack) on the suction side rubber hoses can let the line from the tank to the pump leak back in to the...

    What's the deal with...

Yep, buy Damraider's gas cap to stop that mess. Even with 1/2 tank of fuel, my 65 would wet the side of the car because the crappy gas cap would not seal. I installed one of his caps and never see a drop of fuel get past it, even with a full tank & a hard turn. B.

    Early a 9in hub parts????

The wheel seal should be a Timken 41257 or equal The dust cover should be a Dorman 618100. Most auto parts stores should have those, or something that cross references to those numbers. .

    Upgrading 1965 Barracuda brake lights

Sorry, I missed this post. You can get a decent cyclo in small quantities from Aeromarine. They sell it for things like outdoor traffic surfaces: http://www.aeromarineproducts.com/rock-pebble-deck.htm They call it 300/21, and it is similar to what I have been using. If it is ok...

    Upgrading 1965 Barracuda brake lights

I checked with the sign shop, and that reflective material is an Avery product, currently used on road signs. It does seem to excite rather than simply reflect - I will have to test it with a meter. Have to play with whatever else is out there. The sign shop has some 3M tape with a pattern...

    Upgrading 1965 Barracuda brake lights

Thanks for the compliment Dan. Much of what I do is flying parts, so redundancy is just part of the job. The ratios between modes are 8:1 according to my Gossen Luna-Pro. Not a full photometric study but close enough for me. Because of the additional emitter area the assembly appears to...

    Upgrading 1965 Barracuda brake lights

Actually that is a piece of clear acrylic sheet that is part of the way the board is anchored. The LED's have lenses, so a mirror would not do much in that location. I never did a nightime shot, but I will eventually - even indoors with the lights on they are very bright. I might as well...

66 dart LED prototype working for now

Actually, the red in the left lens is the 47 year old OEM retroreflector (after a good cleaning) in the camera flash. The lens on the right is the reflective tape. For all of the info on my project, it is in this thread: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=172744 Your...

66 dart LED prototype working for now

When you make new lenses, be sure to put some sort or retroreflector back on or in the new lens. When I molded the new red lenses for the '65 I used some reflective tape in the same place as the OEM retroreflector was on the clear lens. The newer reflective stuff is very bright: It...

66 dart LED prototype working for now

Good job Daylight visibility is more important. Most people drive more in daylight, and the sunlight can make a weak light very hard to see. I deal with it around here all the time - many newer cars have crappy daylight visibility with full sun on the lenses. Thanks for posting the...

    Blast cabinet warp panels?

Leanna: Been there, done that. 23 years ago I was teflon coating firearms in California. I had both blast & phosphate processes, as well as a spray booth - all in the South Coast Air Quality Management District. I had a parade of jerks with badges that did not want to see me do...

65Valiant: I would be interested in the exact type of LED replacement you used. I have never found one even close to the output 1157 in the daytime - or I sure would not have put this much work in to it. If you mean the gaskets for the lenses themselves, you can buy them from...

    Blast cabinet warp panels?

Garry: we have the same cabinet. I bought mine a long time ago. I ordered the biggest dust collector they had, and a 50 lb pressure unit. The second week I owned it I raised the unit up & ordered 4 new glove rings... Add one between the two existing gloves, and one on either side on...

    Upgrading 1965 Barracuda brake lights

I started on this project a while back, finally got around to taking some pictures. Anybody that owns one of these cars knows how weak the aft lighting is. My big issue is the daylight visibility Here in the desert with 10,000 foot candles pounding on the light they can be dim in full sun...
