fstfsh66, that is a sweet gas pedal. I actually have a couple of those. When I started teaching 20+ years ago we had a foundry and did a lot of aluminum casting. It was pretty neat (for me) and the kids. It is pretty sad that most of those (shop) environments in public schools have gone the...

    65 Barracuda Gasser + 1956 325 Dodge Hemi Build

It is always a sad day when you have to admit its time to put the car away for winter storage (Michigan). Well I have stumbled on a great group of security specialist that have promised me my Barracuda will be there in the spring. I asked them to pose with the car before the door was closed...

Hi All, it has been awhile since I last posted and brought you up to speed on the Barracuda. I have been putting some more good miles on her and as promised I have finally figured out how to post the "walk-around" video of the car. If you ever are in SE Michigan and see me and the car please...

Too funny 67Dart273!! I'm still laughing. Well I got the seats in today and a couple of friends stopped by to help me get the hood on. Man did I ever need their help! The hood would not clear the front carb, so we did a little driveway surgery and ta da it closes great now. That is good...

    65 Barracuda Gasser + 1956 325 Dodge Hemi Build

Did some more good work today to get her to the point I could take her home. We put on the master cylinder and got the brakes bled. Took off the front and back carbs and opened up the jets. Fired her up and she likes the richer fuel mixture! Realized that we are working with gas that is 1 1/2...

Thanks so much for the notes guys and the info on the video stuff. Going to try that for sure. Today was a banner day and the Cuda started with the first turn of the key. Rob set the timing and we ran her for about 10 minutes. Let it cool down and did it again before we pulled a valve cover...

Well the last post was a few weeks ago and you all probably thought I was too busy out driving the Barracuda than to update the post. Yeah, well we been making "lemonade" again and the following pictures will attest to our travails. The last post I was sooooo very close to taking the Lil Cuda...

    65 Barracuda Gasser + 1956 325 Dodge Hemi Build

As the pictures will attest we spent a few more hours thrashing. After putting about 20 good minutes of run time on the little hemi it was time to change the oil, run the valve lash and cut the break in filter open to have a look. The inerds of the filter were spotless and the valve adjustment...

    65 Barracuda Gasser + 1956 325 Dodge Hemi Build

yes, we were out in the garage working again today and yes it is very hot....but hey, we waited all winter for this weather right? We had a problem with the back carb, so decided it would be good to pull it off and see whats up. Rob took it apart and found the problem, fixed it and he did...

    65 Barracuda Gasser + 1956 325 Dodge Hemi Build

Suff, the rebuild was pretty stock.....except for the solid lifter cam re-grind. We used stock 325 pistons, so the c.r. should be 9.25 to 1. I have to admit though that the car sounds pretty healthy with open headers! Just an update too. During some run time yesterday we noticed the (new)...

    65 Barracuda Gasser + 1956 325 Dodge Hemi Build

Received the radiator from the UPS man today, so we spent about 2 hours fittin' and fabbin' to get the right placement and fit. Put water in her and away we went. Quickly discovered all the bolts we missed with sealant.......weeping water from a few places. These old hemis have a ton of bolts...

    65 Barracuda Gasser + 1956 325 Dodge Hemi Build

Some more good was accomplished today. Finally got the alternator and belt arrangement all figured out and in line. Ran the one wire hookup for the alternator to the power on the starter. Worked great and had 14 volts on a brief startup. Got the return springs for the throttle linkage done. Most...

    65 Barracuda Gasser + 1956 325 Dodge Hemi Build

We've been working a lot on all the little unseen things that need to be done to button her up. Just finished making the adjustable brackets for the alternator. Used some 1/2" hex aluminum bar stock and have a LH heim on one and a RH heim on the other end. Pretty neat looking, I think. (pictures...

    65 Barracuda Gasser + 1956 325 Dodge Hemi Build

Thanks, I'm finding a couple of different arrangements for pulleys to try out. I don't know what we'll settle on, but it's just one of those things that has to get done to wrap it up.......It won't be long now!

    65 Barracuda Gasser + 1956 325 Dodge Hemi Build

Well, even though we have some issues to deal with yet, we decided to fire her up! First turn of the key and "It's alive!!!!" Ran for about 15 seconds, no problems. We still have to solve the pulley problem, but we ran the new throttle cable and made a fire-her-up throttle bracket. Haven't put...

FstFsh66, my, my, you are observant! The "mini" alternator is a Denso one wire hook up. I was at the mopar meet at Norwalk last year and saw it on a great looking dragster......took some pics and started doing some investigation. It seems these are popular with the drag racers and street rod...

    65 Barracuda Gasser + 1956 325 Dodge Hemi Build

From some of the pictures you can see that there is not very much room between the balanced damper and the front spring cross member. I need a pretty special damper pulley to solve the space issue without some heavy re-do of the cross member. It is a pulley, single v-groove, that was made by...

    65 Barracuda Gasser + 1956 325 Dodge Hemi Build

while I was away Rob worked diligently and accomplished a bunch. New hard lines for the trans cooler, hard lines for the fuel, complete overhaul of the brake lines, alternator mock-up and tons of other little stuff that take up a lot of time. I took a short video last night, kinda a dry run for...

    65 Barracuda Gasser + 1956 325 Dodge Hemi Build

SpikeWills69, I hope you are right. I think the little Dodge will be a lot of fun and I'm sure it'll be torqued -up! I personally have never owned a tri-power car, so I thought it would be a neat set up for the hemi. Definitely looks cool on there. Hopefully we'll have some fire in her by...

    65 Barracuda Gasser + 1956 325 Dodge Hemi Build

The hemi all the way!! It definitely would have the wow factor and I can't wait until I'm able to hear and respond to comments like: "I remember when my (dad, brother, grandpa) bought one just like this back in '65......." or "Yeah, that engine was special order from the dealer." Should be fun...

Thanks Suff, indeed this has been an interesting experience. It has been fun trying to keep everyone up to date on the build and installation. I am out on the east coast right now (CT) and my brother in law Rob is diligently thrashing away at all the little stuff while I'm gone. I will post...

fstfsh66, indeed when I bought the car it had a "383" in it, just not the right manufacturer. The moment I saw the car I envisioned a early hemi sitting between the fenderwells and we almost have that done! Thx

We carry on! Thanks for the encouragement everyone! Intake is installed, tri-power in place. More fitment and some straightening, finished up the battery cables. Then turned again to the engine compartment. Re-did the fuel line and installed the fuel block for the tri-power. Dizzy in and pointed...

    65 Barracuda Gasser + 1956 325 Dodge Hemi Build

We spent the night under the car for the most part. This is the first time I have had the car on a hoist and been able to walk beneath it. Straightened up the fuel line and battery cable to the front and installed the other header. It sure is a lot easier doing some of these things from underneath!

The Woodward cruise is definitely in the picture. I really want to have the car ready for the Chrysler meet at Milan Dragway middle of july.......that is kind of what we are shooting for. I am so glad that we had the fitment issues of engine mounts and headers done before hand (earlier pics)...

Upon arrival at Rob's shop the real work took place and the little hemi now resides between the fenderwells!! Wow!!
