    You should be able to read the year of the housing,it has a date embossed on it,if it is prior to 70,the seal is a different size,I ran in to that problem before,I gotone of those jumkyard paint pens so I can mark my cores.

    didn`t notice if you said you have a tachometer. the quick shifting at start off can be corrected by adjusting your kickdown(throttle pressure) linkage,you do have one? if so just remember,the longer the rod the longer the shift,uts best to find an empty road and make several small adjustments...

    good point strokerscamp no kickdown linkage,missed that one, I kinda know what your saying about the convertor,but I`ve not seen one only have a problem on the 2-3 upshift,I guess once it goes into 3rd its ok,it just sounds like it has a delayed shift,or did I miss that too? if it is a delayed...

    sorry about that,just seen you have a T/A rev man unit,you may want to verify your adjustment on the front kick down band,sounds like a little flair up between 2-3 also make sure your throttle pressure linkage or rod is full open at WOT

    How to identify a 904 with 2.74 low gear

    since the low 2.74 gearset can be installed in any 904 series trans,you really couldn`t know for sure without internal inspection,unless your trans has never been apart,then your PK number is relevant.
