    Can I use 67 273 heads on my 69 318?

Thanks for the replies. It should be easy, I'll just pop the heads off the ole 273 and put em on the 318 with the 318 valve train and juice lifters. I'll let you all know how it runs.

    Can I use 67 273 heads on my 69 318?

I have a 69 318 with no heads and also have a 67 273 engine. Can I use the 273 heads on the 318 along with the 318 hydraulic valve train? I'm trying to go cheap.

    Piston pin bad ?

I had a cracked flexplate at the boltholes and it was more of a ticking sound but it was somewhat intermittent.

Having a hard time fitting a 360 into my 67 Barracuda

Ok, all good comments. Using the old 273 stuff was the original plan until I found out the crank holes don't line up. Also, the water pump bypass is bigger on the 360. Timing mark is not a big issue. I've already tackled the motor mounts as well as the torque converter balancing. This...

Having a hard time fitting a 360 into my 67 Barracuda

My 67 ragtop Barracuda was due for an upgrade from the tired 273 so I started looking around for a new engine. I was told a 360 was somewhat compatible but I'm finding it to be a real pain in the azz to get things right. So far I have the correct weights on the torque converter, modified...

    360 to replace 273

Update... I now have the proper oil pan and pickup installed as well as exhaust manifolds. I decided to cheap out (for now) and use my 273 water pump, radiator, ps pump and original brackets for the alternator. The first problem I ran into was the different size of the bypass hose. The 360...

    318 just started knocking???

I recently had a 318 that started spitting water into the crankcase. I thought it was the head gasket but it turned out to be a tiny pinhole behind the water pump. I ended up changing the timing chain cover and water pump to fix the problem.

    360 to replace 273

I already have an 8-1/4 rear end but have to get better gears. The old pig has 323 gears but needs to be rebuilt. If anybody near Sacramento has a good pig with 323 gears let me know.

    360 to replace 273

Yes, the system I have is from Accurate and it's 2-1/2". I've already confirmed the factory manifolds will work too, it's not optimal but it'll work and it's cheap (my favorite brand).

    360 to replace 273

Ok, so I decided to buy the motor, it's not a magnum 360,it's a rebuilt LA engine. I'm going with my original 904 xmission and plan to go with balancing the flex plate and using my torque converter. My radiator is crap so I'll go find or buy a new one with the outlet on the passenger side...

    360 to replace 273

This is sounding worse as it goes along. I can get the rebuilt 360 engine for 400 bucks with a new cam, lifters & timing chain. For the 360 I'd need to buy - oil pan & pickup, radiator, hoses, exhaust system, exhaust manifolds, transmission, motor mount, kickdown linkage, throttle cable & more...

    360 to replace 273

So so far I'm reading that I need to address the motor mount, timing cover, radiator, & flex plate. What about exhaust?

    360 to replace 273

I have a 67 Barracuda and am thinking about replacing the 273/904 with a 360 engine. I need to know what's different and what to expect with this swap. The car was original with a 273/904 but it's tired and I really don't want to rebuild it. I'm concerned with issues related to cooling...

    Blown head gasket - questions

Are you sure the head gaskets were bad? My 318 engine in the Dodge Van had water in the oil and it turned out to be a tiny pinhole behind the water pump. I had to replace the timing case cover, water pump and timing chain (while I was in there). I did needlessly replace the head gaskets...

    OIL and WATER !!

You're going to just have to suck it up and take off the timing case cover if you want to fix it properly. While you're in there check the timing chain, they're usually loose. As for the drip... if it makes any difference, I've never owned a Mopar that didn't drip something no matter how much...

    318 engine vibrates

My 69 Barracuda has a bone stock 318 2bbl engine/auto trans. I changed the engine a few years back using a short-block rebuilt from a engine company in Sacramento who "specializes" in rebuilds. Ever since, the engine has had a major vibration issue. I've swapped out the front damper, took...

    fixing leaking rear main seal

Years ago I had what I thought was a rear main leak in a 340 engine. I pulled the pan, replaced the seal, put it all back together, it still leaked. I took it apart again, pulled the transmission and found the plug at the back of the cam was leaking. It never leaked again after I fixed it.

    Critique/suggestions on 273 engine build

I have to go with the prevailing opinion here. I have a 273 in my 67 fish and it basically sucks. It was a free motor so I figured I'd go cheap and just slap er together and run it. It does run - sorta but has crap for HP. I think I will hunt around for a running 360 for my next engine.

New '73 Duster, need some help!

I would doubt the ignition switch is bad. You should test it before you go needlessly swapping it out. Your short needs to found first. A good place to look is at or near the fuse box. Pull it down and have a good look at it to see if something didn't fall on it causing a short or that wires...

    318 4 barrel question.

It should be an easy swap. You'll need the intake, carb, air cleaner and throttle cable, possibly kickdown linkage etc. Without a free flowing exhaust it'll lack some power but it will be an improvement for power overall. Gas mileage will not be so great so keep your foot out of it.
