I am curious, does your valve body have low band apply?

    Reverse manual valve body questions

If you have no engine braking in first it does not have low band apply in first. Be careful how you do burn outs, start in second or third. Also, while in fist gear do not back out of it and then re hit it as your sprag clutch will be taking a beating. As you probably know, a failed sprag clutch...

Update here too! Different used 440 in it this year, it is healthier and has a slightly bigger cam. Also I added a 850 double pump. It now runs 12.8! Heading to the track again this weekend.

installing carpet in a race car

I always use the hot knife attachment on my butane soldering iron to cut carpet. It melts the edges so they don't fray. The sharpened tubing is also a good idea, i think I would sharpen it by grinding the ID so the OD dimension stays right, then heat it up with a torch and press through the carpet.

What's the slowest car you've raced in the 1/4 ?

Yep, I saw that on the window after I posted it. The track (Thunder mountain in kelowna BC) is at elevation mind you so the times are slower.

What's the slowest car you've raced in the 1/4 ?

My wife's 96 granVoyager 3.3 with over 300,000 kms on it. I cant remember what it ran in the 1/8, but it was deadly consistent. No sportsman class at the local track so I ran it in..... and won pro class that weekend.

    Spring Fling Las Vegas

So confusing, LOL. My brother and I are going to the bracket race spring fling in vegas. 4 days of racing, first place is a 30,000 purse on three of the days, 1 million on the fourth (Friday). Should be a good time!

    Spring Fling Las Vegas

My brother has committed and entered the spring fling in Vegas this year. He has a couple years under his belt with his 67 Dart now and has done quite well locally. I just booked my flights to fly down for the event, should be an awesome time! Is anyone else entered or going?

does anyone use 100LL av gas ?

Having been an aircraft mechanic for 30 years I have run 100LL many times, in everything from my old red ram hemi to my current street driven 440. I usually cut it with some pump gas. It is an excellent gasoline. The only issue I could see with it is the lead fouling plugs, which I have never...

Chasing major gremlin, hope this fixes it!

Float levels too high and it is sloshing out the vent on launch, causing the stumble?

Chasing major gremlin, hope this fixes it!

Under heavy load, throttle wide open the cylinder pressures are higher. If t is going to misfire, that is when it will happen because it is hardest for the spark to "jump the gap" with higher cylinder pressure. Part throttle doing the burnout is different, even if the rpm is the same. What...

Chasing major gremlin, hope this fixes it!

Has anything changed in your electrical system? Do you run an alternator? Is it working? Possibly low voltage causing misfiring of the coils? Is the battery healthy?

    What did I break?

I had the same thing happen with the axles that Yukon used to sell as "a body 8 3/4 large bolt pattern". They were too short and did not have enough engagement with some sure grips, the inboard end of the axle was sheared off. I too limped home with one wheel drive..... You need to have a look...

Ran my 55 So the car is unchanged this year. Last weekend I had it at the old time drags again. It was cooler than last year. The car ran an all time best of 13.29 @ 101 mph! Awesome.

    727 or 904?

55 custom royal lancer. Same car as a regent, different trim level. Many things to consider, for the question of 727 / 904. What driveshaft do you have ( 904 is longer), what is your hp level, what cores do you have, what year are they from, what condition are they in........?

    727 or 904?

Do you have a core to start with?

    727 or 904?

Race.....youl be hard on it....... and a 2800 converter? Seriously? Put 4500 or 5000 stall speed converter behind it. Sheesh. Save yourself the $ and put the stock one back in. Nothing wrong with a 5000 stall in a hot street car. Yes, I have personally done it and would again.

    PTC 9.5 stall converter question

I think the key is a quality converter and a good cooler.

    PTC 9.5 stall converter question

I run a good tci 8", 90% street use and 10% strip use. Honestly it is not like it is at 5000 rpm all the time. It does not feel that much looser than a 9" or 10" high stall unti you really get on it. I wouldn't hesitate to run an 8" on the street and would do it again in a heartbeat.

    Track only driveshaft travel

Assuming that you still have leaf springs and rubber engine mounts consider two facts. #1 when launching at the strip the nose (pinion) of rhe differential rotates upwards driving the slip yoke into the transmission, more so than normal street driving would. #2 when launching at the track your...

    TorqueFlite Burnouts

Thanks for the compliment Duane. You know, it is amazing to me that all of that rotating mass inside an automatic has very little keeping it all aligned and centered. There is the slip yoke at the back (provided the bushing isnt worn and you have proper yoke engagement), the one ball bearing...

    TorqueFlite Burnouts

Yes. It was scrapped, the trans was used for parts to build a big block 65 vintage trans. I removed the outer race and it appeared undamaged. I don't know if the crack was there from the time the race was originally pressed in or as a result of whatever caused the sprag to roll over. Everything...

    TorqueFlite Burnouts

The sprag failure isnt necessarily due to the outer race tearing loose, although this is possible. More commonly the sprag roller(s) migrate beyond their pocket, into the next. Once this happens the locking force is gone and the inner race can rotate, allowing the drum to overspeed and explode...

Well....I just got back from a weekend of drag racing. I managed to make15 1/4 mile passes over three days, all in the 13.4 to 13.5 range. The best was a 13.44 at 99.5 mph with a 60' of 1.8. Not spectacular but certainly respectable for a 4000 pound street car. I went as far as the semifinals...
