I am curious, does your valve body have low band apply?

If you have no engine braking in first it does not have low band apply in first. Be careful how you do burn outs, start in second or third. Update here too! Different used 440 in it this year, it is healthier and has a slightly bigger cam. Also I added a 850 double pump. It now runs 12.8! Heading to the track again this weekend.

I always use the hot knife attachment on my butane soldering iron to cut carpet. It melts the edges so they don't fray. The sharpened tubing is also a good idea, i think I would sharpen it by grinding the ID so the OD dimension stays right, then heat it up with a torch and press through the carpet.

Yep, I saw that on the window after I posted it. The track (Thunder mountain in kelowna BC) is at elevation mind you so the times are slower.

My wife's 96 granVoyager 3.3 with over 300,000 kms on it. I cant remember what it ran in the 1/8, but it was deadly consistent. No sportsman class at the local track so I ran it in..... and won pro class that weekend.

It is one of those once in a lifetime things, big event etc. My brother has been super competitive in his other car - 440 68 Dart for more than 15 years. He was run his current alcohol car in super pro for the last two years and done well. Hope he goes a round or two!

So confusing, LOL. My brother and I are going to the bracket race spring fling in vegas. 4 days of racing, first place is a 30,000 purse on three of the days, 1 million on the fourth (Friday). Should be a good time!

Has anything changed in your electrical system? Do you run an alternator? Is it working? Possibly low voltage causing misfiring of the coils? Is the battery healthy?

I had the same thing happen with the axles that Yukon used to sell as "a body 8 3/4 large bolt pattern". They were too short and did not have enough engagement with some sure grips, the inboard end of the axle was sheared off. I too limped home with one wheel drive..... You need to have a look...

Ran my 55 So the car is unchanged this year. Last weekend I had it at the old time drags again. It was cooler than last year. The car ran an all time best of 13.29 @ 101 mph! Awesome.

Race.....youl be hard on it....... and a 2800 converter? Seriously? Put 4500 or 5000 stall speed converter behind it. Sheesh. Save yourself the $ and put the stock one back in. Nothing wrong with a 5000 stall in a hot street car. Yes, I have personally done it and would again.

I think the key is a quality converter and a good cooler.

I run a good tci 8", 90% street use and 10% strip use. Honestly it is not like it is at 5000 rpm all the time. It does not feel that much looser than a 9" or 10" high stall unti you really get on it. I wouldn't hesitate to run an 8" on the street and would do it again in a heartbeat.

The sprag failure isnt necessarily due to the outer race tearing loose, although this is possible. More commonly the sprag roller(s) migrate beyond their pocket, into the next. Once this happens the locking force is gone and the inner race can rotate, allowing the drum to overspeed and explode...
