Steve, Oldmanmopar is right, "real trucks don't have sparkplugs"

That truck should have a Dana 80 in it, most likely 3.55 and might not have a limited slip in it. The Dana 80, 70 and 60 all have same basic shape when looking at the cover but the D-80 will measure 13 1/2" top to bottom vs the D-70 at 12 5/8" and the D-60 at 12". Those diesel trucks don't want...

    mopar street rodders?

The Rusty hope brake setup will probably be the cheapest way to do a "bolt on" disk conversion, about $400 total w/brackets, rotors, calipers, pads, hardware, etc.. The biggest hurdle to overcome when putting a v8 in one of these cars is the steering column, it's going to want to occupy the same...

    Not an a body but.................

The TIPM (under hood fuse box) goes bad in a lot of those Rams, but to be sure a little troubleshooting is in order. See if you're missing either the power or ground, most likely power since the hi beam works. trace the wire back to the TIPM to make sure it isn't broken somewhere between the...

old fuel lines and brake lines -Replacement Where and How? Tech tips please!

Poly armor line is the stuff with the green coating, its basically a steel line with a plastic coating over it, as long as you don't scratch the coating off it will last a while even in the rust belt, but if the coating gets rubbed off there's no corrosion protection. Copper nickel line looks...

1956 Dodge Hardtop, Stripped Oil Plug and Oil Extractor Options?

If you have an air chisel or access to one I'd try that first, grab one of the flats and try to pound the plug counter clockwise. This can be done with a hammer and cold chisel if you don't have access to an air chisel Second option would be to weld a nut onto the plug to give you something a...

    Alum intake corrosion ( prevention)

A sacrificial anode in the radiator will only protect the radiator unless it is bonded to the rest of the system with a connecting wire, the hoses act like an insulator. If you want to protect the intake the anode needs to be in the intake.

    Starter cotter pin...

That pin is a pain in the *** to get back in with the starter on a bench let alone in the car. The two "legs" of the cotter pin have to go around the fork and then through the hole on the other side so straighten the pin as best you can. The solenoid shouldn't have to come off to get the cotter...

2015 Dodge Journey Problem, anybody know?

My money is on a bent rim. It doesn't take much to bend a rim on a newer car, especially a large diameter rim with a low profile tire.

    Why Why Why???????????????????????

As weird looking as that is, it doesn't look like he did any irreversible damage to it. His money, his car. I'll bet he gets people who come up to him asking what year it is and how their uncle had one just like it.

Who knows Detroits? 4-53, 6V-53, etc?

Problem is that's about the going rate for one of those trucks. High mileage, body rotten off the frame, blown transmission, etc.. they still bring $2k and up.

A non-computerized Cummins 6bt is the way to go for a diesel pickup truck.

    "heavier truck" question...........

I don't think you're going to find an SAE bellhousing for a small block, typically bigger trucks with a small block would have had a Clark 5 speed or an NP435. Big block trucks did use SAE bell housings but they were massive with rear motor mounts built into them. If you want a 5 speed the NV...

Does anybody remember mobile engine overhaul outfits?

I've heard stories from my father about mobile "in frame" engine machining. Pretty interesting process of cleaning up a crank journal after a spun bearing without pulling the crank. After pulling the oil pan and removing main cap or connecting rod and whats left of the spun bearing, One back...

    Ball joints...

If your lucky you might be able to get the job done without pulling the knuckle off the truck, but you'll be torching the old joint out carefully without cutting into the knuckle and then while things are still warm carefully hammer in the new joint without destroying it. There's no way to use a...

A lesson here? in fuel volume/ delivery

Fuel injection fuel pumps usually sit inside a cylinder to prevent the pump from sucking air and loosing pressure when the fuel sloshes around the tank. Your probably pumping the cylinder out faster than the fuel can flow back in, under normal operating conditions the engine wouldn't be able to...

What the hell is the "Emission Switch Maintenance Warning LamP"

Yes you can do away the piece inline on the speedo cable, it's a mileage counter for the EGR system and sets off the emissions maintenance light every 15000 miles. You'll need to replace the speedo cable with the one piece style.

    ...aluminum water pump housing.......

Well, I bought one of those housings from 440 source, ported it as best I could and it still overheated. The problem with porting the pass side inlet housing is that you can't get the burr where you need it even with a 6" burr so you can't open up the ports. I wound up using a driver side inlet...

I might be interested if your other party doesn't come through, but I'm just a guy with a truck and open car trailer looking for some extra cash while work is slow. *HELP* Dipstick broke off in oil pan

If it's laying in the sump shaped like a horseshoe I wouldn't sweat it, really, it already went for the ride around the crank, it didn't trash anything other than itself, trust me the engine will be fine for another 150000 miles. Just get another dipstick and keep on truckin'.

Time capsule it, let it go along for the ride. If it's laying in the bottom of the pan it's not going to hurt anything.
