I happen to know two original early A owners and both claim their Commando/Charger cars didn't come with a muffler. I've seen both cars and they both have their original exhaust systems. Both have the solid single pipes coming off the manifolds all they way over the rear axle into the resonator...

California cars had the muffler. I talking with an original owner of one of these cars there was an option of resonator only

Tom sell some good quality stuff. Considering nobody else sells the resonator that is close to NOS Tom gets my vote. I have the single modified Y-pipe on my 64 vert and the resonator. Also using the resonator on my 64 post car. both have 8.75 rearends

I would call Tom at Accurate Ltd. He can make you headpipes but he will need the part numbers of the exhaust manifolds to get the clocking of the pipes correct.

Anyone with an early A running the stock Jipo 273 exhaust? Trying to get some ideas and I need to visual help.

Another route would be to use the commando single exhaust system. You can get everything from Accurate Ltd. If you do go this route leave the muffler off and use only the resonator. You'll really like the sound.
