Let me add one more piece of advice. Talk with Jim Rhinehart (rhinodart) or Jim Lusk. The two have more big block A body experience and history than probably anybody here on this forum.

    GTS Motor info

A lot of misnomers on 67-68 bigblock A bodies. Not all 383s had an H stamped on the pad below the dizzy especially early blocks. Majority of the blocks with the H stamping that I've found were in 68-70 Road Runners. The block in my GTS didn't have a stamping. It was an early June 67 casting. As...

426 wedge TRW pistons L2208 - compression ratio?

Nothing wrong with those pistons. Of course a lot of that weight comes with the wrist pin. Get them weighed if you don't have an accurate scale. Also, there may be enough meat in the piston to lighten them a bit.

What suspension upgrades should i do for $1200 big block dart

I should also add that the big block A bodies came from the factory with HD springs and torsion bars. Big block A bodies do have a tendency of nosing into corners. A combo of shocks, sway bar, torsion bars and HD springs will a long way to making your car handle a lot better.

What suspension upgrades should i do for $1200 big block dart

I have a 68 big block Dart. I wanted to keep things close to stock and easy to change back to OE. I run a set of Bilstienshock, a Firm Feel front sway bar, Urathane bushings front and rear and 15" wheels and tires. Car rides nice and handles great.

Removing the Oil Pump From a Stock Big Block A Body

Ok, here goes. First, my car is a 68 Dart GTS original big block car. Stock exhaust manifolds, stock motor mounts etc. Not sure this will work on a 440 Dart or Cuda. Also I did all this on my back with the car on jackstands. If you have a lift it may be better for you. Also, since I was...

    Big Block Dart Cooling

Well the car will have to wait now until I heal from surgery. Lots of air in the system. Bought a kit from NAPA to bleed the air out.

    Big Block Dart Cooling

So true. Of course the 108 degrees we'll have next week won't help. 100 today so I put off working on it. I bought a puke tank last night so I don't have antifreeze dumping on the ground. Have to keep the tree huggers happy.

    Big Block Dart Cooling

Sounds like you have it covered. When I parked the car in the garage after driving it it burped a bit of antifreeze so there some air trapped in there. I'll probably loosen the temp gauge sending unit tomorrow and try to burp some of that air.

Which episode? What kind of vacuum? I didn't burp mine yesterday after changing the T stat. Probably need to do that.

    Big Block Dart Cooling

One of the things I need to stick with is keeping the car looking stock. That's why I'm taking things a step at a time. The more I read about flow the closer I am to being convinced that's my issue. Ive seen where people have posted about the 440Source WP housing and how it has restrictions. I...

    Big Block Dart Cooling

The flow is the next thing I'll look at. When I bought the car the guy told me he had the radiator rodded out. Me thinks if he did they didn't do a very good job. Next step is to pull the rad and take it to a good rad shop. I may go ahead and pull that 440Source pump and replace it with a...

    Big Block Dart Cooling

Changed out the T stat and bumped the timing back about 4 degrees. It was at 14. Took the car out this morning for a drive around town. Car got up to 210 in traffic. Got it home and it puked some antifreeze. I need to get a puke tank. I'll take it out on the freeway later. Oh, it's about 95 outside

    Big Block Dart Cooling

As a point of discussion this car went down the line on December 28, 1967. One can only imagine the mindset of those working the line. It appears that the line workers didn't pay much attention to detail with this car. The car has never been hit however, in the past the original owner liked to...

I've started the first step. Removed the T Stat. I have a replacement high flow sitting at O'reilly's. Here's some pics of the rad and fane placement in relation to the shroud Note, thats the stock fixed six blade fan and stock spacer
