From the picture looks like your shroud is not covering the fan at all not pulling any air through it the radiator I'm not an expert just my thoughts think of the fan and shroud like this it's able to cool at idle because not as much heat generated and with your setup able to pull some air when...

shroud should cover around 2/3 of the blade and have just enough room at the end of the blades to get the v belt through make sure there is no place sucking air at the shroud to radiator

I did exactly what you are wanting to do BUT WAIT I had a complete car to get everything from the major problem besides having the correct parts is all the correct holes needed in the firewall to do this mounting - heater - a/c lines - drain - fan on and on I cut the firewall out of the parts...

Correct it's got the Hayden Jag clutch on it now but only about 1/4" gap to the radiator if ever a belt problem would have to remove the shroud and radiator so will be using a spacer

I have a Be Cool crossflow in it now and it's unproven but I see no reason why it shouldn't suffice the Champion with electric fans was junk at best

I have since added power steering and mines a later model car but I had manual steering double pulley on the alternator one belt crank - compressor - alternator other belt crank - water pump - alternator took some work to get them sized right

Unless you bought something different I just installed this and a couple of things I don't quite agree with -- you do not need P.S I have manual steering and tensioned of the alternator (double pulley) and all hard lines needed reused -- works pretty good

Toss the electric fans they should be outlawed - go back to factory setup with shroud and a clutch fan

OK your using a Ford pick up fan clutch (correct) but what's the length did some looking and I haven't a clue what your using the early 2's Ford truck uses one with a nut and late 90's are reverse rotation did find mid 80's but looks like they are 3.33" high

fan clutch is number 215049 sold by just about everyone for less money total height is 3.11 inches and the Hayden 2765 is 2.67

Again I have a clearance issue even using the shortest clutch available - IMO electric fans do not belong on our older cars I hate them - so do I give up some HP that probably won't be missed that much like post # 7 or use the clutch and possibly having to remove EVERYTING in front of the clutch...
