There was a guy at mmw indy a couple of years back brought a 68 dart ( I think) .he had dropped a 4bt into it custom chassis the whole nine yards said it got 32 mpg from quad cities in Illinois to indy with no problems a hood would fit but he had a temp stack running up out of the engine bay.

There pretty dependable trucks if maintained right ,I've had 3 80,s 4wd and 2 early 90,s 2wd got up pretty close to 20mpg out of the 2 wd one but they were both tbi engines that one looks Damn nice for its age if he,d drop to say 15 or lower I,d say jump on it
