    Shake Shake Shake

My Commando 273 does the same thing. I will start looking at all the ideas here to see if I can get it smoothed out.

    Cooling issues

I want to add a shroud to my '67 Barracuda. It has the stock fan and no shroud. Will a 68 A body shroud work on my set up. Non clutch fan.

Fluid style harmonic balancer for 273

Is there a stock style fluid one that is really good?

Fluid style harmonic balancer for 273

I was looking to get a new harmonic balancer for my 67 273 Commando. I'd like to go with a "fluid" style one (later to be used on a built360). My concern is that my timing marks are on the left of the engine. Does anyone make this style of balancer with the appropriate sided marks? I was looking...

    340 X heads and Doug's D453 headers

Anyone put these on a 4 speed car? Instructions say to grind of some tabs on the bell housing. Does anyone have pics of this?

    Losing Fuel

Can you post a pic of how you mounted it? I wonder if there is a way to put a timer on it so it only runs for 30-60 seconds upon turning the key?

    Losing Fuel

Trailbeast what size/ psi electric pump would you reccomend? Location? I have an original 500 cfm Carter (rebuilt about 10 years ago) and have this 24 hour window of easy start vs crank and crank if over that. Stock style mechanical fuel pump too.

    Help! Intake manifold won't fit!

So guess what!? I actually do have a hole that the temp sensor fits in! I thought it was blind hole but I put anti freeze in the car and guess where it came out? I feel like a dummy! I just need to tap the hole to get paint out of it and it should be perfect.

    Help! Intake manifold won't fit!

Got the reducer on order (I wanted a black one). Thanks so much for everyone's input and sage advice. A few picks of the almost finished product. Now for the Doug's D453', Edelbrock AVS2 500 carb and it will be a runner!

    Help! Intake manifold won't fit!

So I went with the Felpro roll of gasket material (thanks mderoy340!) and made my own. Fits perfectly now!! My last problem is the old temp sensor is way too small (npt maybe 1/8?) for the Performer hole (3/8 npt). Is there a different temp sensor I can use or should I get a reducer? Also the...

    Help! Intake manifold won't fit!

Good thought. What I was going to use was a universal joint but they can be problematic sometimes. Let me price out some new bolts. Thanks.

    Stock bolts. 1/2" head.

    Help! Intake manifold won't fit!

Good call I will try. Any tips on getting the center 4 bolts torqued down? When I mocked it up without gaskets they seemed hard to get to.

    Help! Intake manifold won't fit!

Mike thanks for the info. I could not find the Mancini one listed in the feed but found this one: 1968-1973 All Makes All Models Parts | MF224 | 1968-73 Mopar 340 Four-Barrel Throttle Cable Mounting Bracket | Classic Industries Looks the same as the one in the discussion you listed. Let me know...

    Help! Intake manifold won't fit!

Just noticed a new problem. The throttle cable mount is too short. Is there a fix or should I just go with a new unit. This is my first intake swap so I am finding things as I go along. It is a stock Commando mount and the Performer is at least an inch taller.

    Help! Intake manifold won't fit!

Sorry these took so long to post: One is with gaskets in place. 2 of the bolt holes with manifold as low as I can get it (damn holes are right there!) , and one with the manifold overall.

So do I just get .065 off both sides? How about the bottom?

Sorry have not taken any yet. Too P.O.'d to look at it right now.

    Help! Intake manifold won't fit!

Measured the new gasket. I think this means .065 thickness (?). Looks like I am off the the machine shop.

    Help! Intake manifold won't fit!

Yes they are 67. No gaskets everything fits perfect. With gaskets and the manifold is just to high.

    Help! Intake manifold won't fit!

Left my dizzy in too. Great minds think alike! Pretty much been trying the "wiggle in method. Pretty close ( I even stood on the intake for a few minutes!) But it won't drop down any more (yet). I'll keep working at it. A little trim on the manifold may end up being the solution but you never know.

    Help! Intake manifold won't fit!

Yes they did align with no gaskets on the Performer. Thanks for the warning on the holes.

Yes I did take the pins out.

    Help! Intake manifold won't fit!

I just pulled my 67 273 Commando manifold off to replace it with a Performer. Steel intake gaskets came off with the intake. Now when I put the new manifold on with Edelbrock gaskets the damn thing sits to high. I'd have to clearance the bolt holes to get them in. I pulled off the gaskets and...

    273 warm up!

I am starting with a real '67 Commando so I have the solid already and the better compression pistons. I will look at the carb and bigger solid. Thanks!

    273 warm up!

Toolman, I would like your opinion. I am looking to wake my Commando up a bit. Headers, performer intake and a 625 Carter are in the mix. My questions is the cam. Your comments got me thinking. I want a modern hydraulic vs the stock solid (less adjustments and modern tech). The heads are gasket...

    273 warm up!

I agree if he uses the 2bbl pistons but if he gets some of the 4bbl variety I think it could work. You may have to advance the cam a few degrees. My Commando's solid is pretty lumpy but does not seem to pull like it should to higher rpm's. The rebuild was a pretty stock rebuild with no extra...

    273 warm up!

Build to Commando specs except the cam. Use a Comp Xtreem Energy or Lunati Voodoo 262/268 Hydraulic and appropriate springs. I have a Commando and I do not really like the cam very much.
