dougs headers dont clear zbar clutch linkage

So I think I figured it out. Once I changed to the TTI z bar I need the longer adjusting rod (67 and later) that actuates the clutch fork. The previous set up had the shorter rod and even adjusted all the way out (with the new z bar) it did not have enough length to get the pedal up past the...

Can you share a pic? Did you keep the overcenter spring?

dougs headers dont clear zbar clutch linkage

I am trying bud. Just frustrating. It worked with the stock slant 6 z bar, stock exhaust etc. Now with a tti z bar and spring I got from Brewers it just won't come back up. I confirmed it has the 3 prong clutch disc just like stock. I may pull the pedals and lube them to see what happens.

dougs headers dont clear zbar clutch linkage

I just bought the TTI z bar. Still hit the header so I had to tweak it a little. Now nothing hits anything and the clutch pedal still won't come all the way up.

dougs headers dont clear zbar clutch linkage

Sorry for posting on am old thread but I just ran into this issue. Aside from moving the arm over and revesing it; is there a specific angle it has to be in relation to the arm that connects to the pedal? Like arms on a clock?

Can’t get side cover on 833

When I say bend it I mean towards the inside of the transmission at the top of the template. If you need more info let me know. P.S. If anyone makes this and sells it I want my cut! :)

Can’t get side cover on 833

Here you go. The hole is where the reverse lever bolt comes out. You'll have to bend it slightly to get it under the forks and leave room to get the cover over them. Once you have the forks in the cover you can pull this out and slide it the rest of the way in.

    competition plus shifter

Sounds like a winner to me. I'll get the clips first thing and then look at a rebuild. I like it it I guess I am spoiled by more modern manuals!!

    competition plus shifter

It looks like the one one Ok. Any thoughts on moving over to a competition plus? It could use a rebuild at some point (the existing one) so just adding a newer better unit would be a good upgrade.

    competition plus shifter

66fs I will try that. It has the flat Hurst shift lever that is bolted on from the side. Pics coming today.

    competition plus shifter

It does have the Hurst shifter on it now. Don't know what model though. I am working on pics now but that has taken a back seat to not being able to shift into reverse after pulling the side cover. :(

    competition plus shifter

Let me take a look. It came with it when we got the car in 1992. It also had dealer installed AC so maybe they got the inland changed?

    competition plus shifter

Oops. Sorry I see above that the 6350 plate from Brewers is the one for me. Still have the question on what PN for the shifter itself (Competition plus)

    competition plus shifter

Hi all I have a 1967 car with A833 and Hurst shift. Is that like the 68 and later A-body one? 23in/30out A833 transmission. If I were to go with a Comp plus would I use the 0090 plate? Do I buy the shifter and mounting plate separately of just ask for that in the "kit"?

Can’t get side cover on 833

I was able to do it! I used a piece of cardboard to hold the 2 forks up and then slid the side cover on and it looks like everything is moving the correct way. Fingers crossed. I install the shift linkage today so we will know. I made a template of the cardboard piece. If anyone wants it I will...

Can’t get side cover on 833

I know this is a old thread but I need some help. Can you install the forks and side plate with the trans in the car? I replaced my side gasket and got it all back together. But when I installed it the reverse and 1-2 lever will not budge. I think I just got it installed in-correctly. I can pull...

Diaphragm clutch in a 1972 Duster?

Does anyone have an diagram showing the springs etc? A diaphragm clutch was installed before I got my car and the pedal dies not "return". I have a video if what I am talking about but it says it is too big to attach. :(

2.66 first gear for O/D transmission

Sounds like sticking with the iron case could be an upgrade but do you think the smaller bearing would wear faster in an iron case with OD gears? Any threads on a T-56 install?

2.66 first gear for O/D transmission

I have heard this to but there is a fix. By overboring the input shaft hole and pressing in a steel "race" for the shaft. I can't remember what magazine (Mopar Muscle?) did this fix but they stated it "cures" this problem. You would need a good/ great machinist to do it right though.

2.66 first gear for O/D transmission

Thanks everyone. It looks like the best thing to do is to just get a stock O/D unit and use that for my application.

2.66 first gear for O/D transmission

Can I swap a 2.66 first gear into an O/D A-833? I would like to use this transmission but tighten up the gear spread a bit using stock parts. Can it be done? I was hoping for a spread like this: 1st- 2.66 2nd- 1.67 or 1.77 (1.77 is from a 18 spline transmission, can this be put on a 23 spline...

    Hurst shifter offset?

That thing is ugly! I will go without a console and stick with my Comp Plus if that is my only option or go as far as making one. Hope I do not offend anyone.

    Hurst shifter offset?

:-k I was looking at several 4 speed a-body barracudas this last weekend and it seemd like the hurst 4-speed shifter in my 67 is offset to the drivers side as compared to the stock shifter as well as other Hurst shifters. No problems with its function (actually it works REALLY good), but I...
