the gaps there,,,,u just cant see due to the background....Air Filter is New......it has backfired through the carb before..... not lately...... and only on start up..... i have been told by several guys now that a hotter plug will help with any excess fuel not being burnt in the cylinders......

thank ya'll for all the help......the motor has 72k on it....it is a fairly new Holley Carb,,, less than a year old..... i have done some adjusting so thats probaly the culpit.......i'll get some hotter plugs and tune the carb and see what happens.......again, thanks for the help...

I currently have Autolite Platinum AP65......and yep, i get lousy gas mileage ...

the plugs in her now are autolite platinum.... they lasted a couple weeks,,,, had NGK in before and they lasted a couple days.....

looks carbon fouled..... they are solid black,,, dry, but covered with black carbon

I have a 318 thats fouling plugs like crazy...this has just started and i am now on my 3rd set of plugs in 2 months.....its a pretty much stock 318.. has headers, mild comp cam,, holley 650 with weiland intake.... the ignition is stock... its the original motor in my 1974 Dart...... any ideas as...

Thanks Ya'll the cam manufacture (Comp) said i didnt need to change the springs. (talked with same Comp Tech many times and this was one of my ? )... the Holley is jetted stock... will re-jet them last if needed... fuel lines appear good... the vaccum advance is not hooked up, nor plugged.... it...

springs are stock... runs great and burns the tires from a dead stop..... the miss is at high speed only and in 3rd gear.... around 2500 rpm and up...... but not in lower gears and higher rpms 4-5k does fine......???? checked intake and no leaks

have new plugs in now....wen i changed them they were all Black and fouled.... carb was dumping way to much fuel.... have since changed carb with the new 600 Holley... timing is at full advance..or it was, havent checked it lately though....has new timing chain and gears...

check fuel....plenty.......ignition?? have considered installing a new MSD but from all I have read, the stock ignition is more than adequate, unless of course i am reading old material

I have a 318 cast date of 1974... My son and I recently installed a wieland intake a new holley 600cfm electric choke carb, flowtech headers, and XL 268 Comp cam and new lifters, Its an automatic, stock 7.25 rear.... It runs and sounds awesome at idle and low speed however wen we take her on up...

only temp in this dart... from one dart to another.... I will use it in another A Body,,, so it is gonna get use........
