Does that Etch primer hold up under the engine enamel? Im getting ready to paint a block and I always wondered how much better it would be with some etch primer shot on first. I was just a bit nervous it wouldnt hold up to the heat and let the enamel go.

Valle6062 says that the cylinders will have to be notched. many of you said it would be fine. Which way are we leaning here?

That sounds like a good option. I guess I will open the motor up and see if she needs new pistons, probably does, and go with the KB Flat Tops and 360 heads.

Well, the idea here was to save some money and not have to work the 318 heads. This is just for a daily driver

I have a nicely worked set of 360 heads with 2.02 valves lying around and thought I would install them on my trucks 318. I am having the 318 rebuilt and thought I could save some money by not having to have the heads done. So I am only doing this swap to save some bucks. The 318 is a 1987 block...

This 69 340 has all standard rocker arms ( left and rights) except for two that look like the on on the right. just trying to figure out if they are a replacement aftermarket product or something that is just completely incompatible.

The rocker on the left is standard but the one on the right is odd and it is the only one that looks like that.

Thanks swinger 340 . i guess I have come full circle. HMMMMM my engine is a 1969 340 and I would like to believe these are original 340 heads. Seems to be a lot of questions about Z heads. Thanks folks

Thanks folks. Can I safely say that these are 360 heads? Did the 340 block come with a Z casting ever?

I have a 340 that I found and it has these largely marked Z heads on it. Im thinking they must be something from a 360 and also people have suggested that they are police car heads. Anyone know what these are??? Thanks

I have a 69 340 with Z heads. Large Zs stamped on them. I have never heard of them. Are they some weird 360 head??? Someo9ne earlier suggested they might be cop car heads.

I figured they were not the original heads. I have just never seen or heard of Z heads. I was hoping that someone could fill me in on them.
