    wheel clamp for alignment

I have that one also with the toe adapter kit and it works well except I have to wrap a long bungee around the wheel to keep it in place.

    LED Garage / Shop Lights?

Over the winter I replaced a failed fluorescent unit with an LED light and love it. My local Rural King had them on sale for $30 each (the complete light assy. not just the bulbs) and I bought 2. Another nice thing is it doesn't have to warm up for several minutes like fluorescent bulbs do. My...

With my failing back these darn 8-3/4 pumpkins are so hard to swap out for me anymore that I decided to make an attachment to use my floor jack to R&R them. It's made from scrap metal I had laying in my pile so it's not the prettiest but gets the job done. It bolts on top where the pinion...

LOL... When I was a kid before the days of harbor freight I bought some cheap wrenches from Wal-mart cause I didn't have the money for anything better and I bent a 3/4" wrench just like that trying to get a flexplate off a 383. I kept it in my toolbox for yrs cause it was useful in tight spaces...

Actually, oil hitting the valve spring is of good use. It cools the spring. Not saying you don't need oil hitting the contact area, just saying if it hits both it'd be beneficial. Good idea to check it the way you did for sure

    HF leak down tester

I bought on of the HF units and it wasn't accurate at all. Had it on sale and I had a 20% off coupon so it was real cheap so I should have known. The problem was the gauges were junk. I have a tool store near me that gets closeout deals on all sorts of stuff and they had good quality gauges for...

auto dark welding helmets what U use

I have a Miller auto darkening helmet. Love it cause it also has a slot to slide a magnifying lens in it if your vision is not great like mine. The very first corrective lens I grabbed (a 1.25 magnification if I remember right) was perfect. I noticed some auto dark helmets only go down to #10...

Don't overlook those antique malls for tools

Sounds like a whopper. I have a buddy that scraps and comes across deals like that every now and then. Unless you pay big bucks for them older grinders are usually a lot better than new. This grinder I picked up is rated at 3/4 hp and it's all I can do to slow it down just a little with a piece...

Don't overlook those antique malls for tools

Yep. Yrs ago I had a buddy that ran a pawn shop and would let me have stuff for what he paid for it. Got some super sweet deals from him

Don't overlook those antique malls for tools

LOL... I hear ya. Me and the Mrs are the same way. I usually only look for tools or old radio's. She looks at nearly everything. Dang, that's some big malls! I hear ya on farm auctions. I've found some good deals there and seen some stuff sell for more than new

Don't overlook those antique malls for tools

Last Saturday we went to a cousin's birthday party and got done early and stopped at a large antique mall we had spotted last time we were in that town. Check out what I found for $60. It's an old Sears 8" 3/4 horse industrial grinder. The pedestal is home made but is real well made. Man this...

    spark plug cleaner...?

X2... If you've ever looked down into a plug around the insulator after you cleaned one you'll see some grit is left no matter how much you blow it out or wash it out with cleaner. Only way I've ever got it out is like Bob said with a large sewing needle

    bench grinder deal

I think the biggest reason for that is all the cheap crap coming over from China. Nowadays practically every major electric power tool is made in a Chinese sweatshop

    Torque Wrench Repair???

That doesn't surprise me. From my experience with their employees you don't have to have any mechanical knowledge at all to sell their tools.

    Torque Wrench Repair???

If it's very old (which it sounds by your description) the calibration is most likely off. I understand sentiment but a torque wrench is a very specific item that needs to be accurate or why even use it. Hang it on the garage wall if it's sentimental and get something that's new and accurate...

    bench grinder deal

I hope it's a good one for the OP's sake but that's what I'm thinking too. The way they rate stuff in amperage nowadays is bull.

    11/16" drill bit

My local ACE hardware carries Hanson bits up to an inch. You might try them. Their not the quality they used to be but still much better than harbor freight crapola. Probably looking at about $15 for a bit that size at ACE

Got tired of fighting with the universal adjustable spanner wrenches so I built one specifically for the 8-3/4. I realize you can buy them for about $40 but I had the materials to make one laying around and it took less than an hour. Still need to paint it. Even though the main rod looks like...

    Shop Press

I've owned a horror freight 20 ton press for several yrs. and except for the junk pressing plates they send with it it's well built. A buddy of mine bought the 12 ton last year and man is it very light duty in comparison. When I first saw it I thought it was a 6 or 8 ton but it says 12. I've...

Tools for Valve Spring Replacement Needed

I bought the Summit brand cam degree kit several yrs. ago. Just looked and they have it and a nearly identical kit made by Trick Flow for $5 cheaper. Here's the link http://www.summitracing.com/parts/tfs-90000/overview/ The only one thing that isn't the easiest to do with the heads on is...

    Recommend a Welder

After owning a couple cheap low buck welders then owning a good mig welder no way could I ever go back to cheap low buck flux welder. MIG makes for so much cleaner welds and if you get a decent machine with infinite voltage and amp adjustment it's so much easier to dial right in on what your...
