    Improve those dash lights

Looks like they have a nice selection and good prices. Thanks for sharing

    Improve those dash lights

Some LED's are dimmable. Just gotta get the right ones if you want that feature. My dash lights were so dim with incandescent bulbs the LED's made it just right so I don't really need a dimmer

    Improve those dash lights

I see. I wonder if you can order them from O'Reilly's on line? They were $10 each here so they're not exactly cheap but the gain is worth it IMO

Don't you have an O'Reilly's near you? That's where I got mine and they only have 1 led replacement that's stock size

    Improve those dash lights

The small dash bulbs I used were only 1 led I think. I got them at O'Reilly's. They didn't say anything about multiple led's and being their so small I doubt they were more than one. I tried some of the 1157 LED's in my tail lights and they didn't produce any more light than the regular 1157's...

    Improve those dash lights

I had that problem with mine on just the right side where the factory gauges are and found it was a loose pin on the round multi pin connector that pushes onto the back of the circuit board. I resoldered all of them just to be sure no others came loose in the future. Everything works great now

    Improve those dash lights

Unfortunately I can't answer that because at the same time I reworked the dash lights I cut out the old fusebox and installed a new one but the new one wasn't like the original that had 1 fuse that wasn't powered by the key or constant b+. The original was independent of them and only used for...

    AM Chrysler Solid State Radio

Electrolytics are a type of capacitor used in radio's. The older ones were prone to go bad with age, even if the radio didn't get used a lot. They also had carbon resistors that would drift off value and cause problems.

    Improve those dash lights

When I restored the dash in my 68 Cuda about 10 yrs. ago I upgraded the light bulbs to the best I could find at that time. Unfortunately even they were a pitiful excuse for dash lighting. The factory bulbs were part # 168 and the only upgrade I could find at that time was bulb #194. These barely...

    HEI module death symptoms

Yeah I've seen them. Unfortunately they won't do everything I need

    HEI module death symptoms

They are definitely a lot cheaper than they used to be but when you're disabled an extra $300 doesn't come easy. I haven't ran across any good deals on used ones. Wish I could cause it'd really come in handy with all sorts of things I do. I'm an amateur radio operator and could use it for radio...

    HEI module death symptoms

I agree but in my case the car needed a tune-up already so I did it first to eliminate any problem there and was hoping it would take care of it. When it didn't I looked elsewhere. Unfortunately not very many people including me have the luxury of owning a oscilloscope to diagnose it that way...

    HEI module death symptoms

I've seen them do that and even stranger things. My father-in-law bought a 64 Rambler that someone put a SB Chevy in and it would idle just fine but as soon as you brought the rpm's up above 1300-1400 it'd start missing on a couple cylinders. Did a complete tune-up and still the same problem...

    68 cuda plug wires

You won't find a company making them like that. You need a set of universal wires and put them together yourself so they run where you want them to run. Summit sells several universal wire sets.

    6x9 speakers not fitting.

Same here. I installed numerous stereo systems for guys in the 80's. I've seen a few guys mount them from the top but I never did and never had any trouble.

Fuse box to replace the stock one

Only 1 JY in the area and they are so expensive I might as well buy a new one. Don't know why I didn't think of looking on E-bay. Much better deal there for one. That 26 circuit would give me all I ever needed. Thanks for the tip

Fuse box to replace the stock one

I would do that but my original has rusted up terminals where the fuses plug in so it needs replacing. Thanks

Fuse box to replace the stock one

The interior wiring harness in my 68 Cuda is in real good shape but the puny 6 fuse fuseblock has rusted terminals. I could probably use a wire brush attachment on a dremel and clean it up but I'd like to add at least 4 more fuses so I'd like to just replace it. Checked at NAPA and they had some...

    A question about timing?

I bet it'd like a quick curve too. Being babied around is another reason to have it come in soon. It'll help the fuel mileage a bit too.

    1964 Valiant HEI troubles

An easy way to test an HEI module is to unplug the connector that runs to the distributor at the HEI module and moisten your index finger and touch the terminals on the module where you unplugged the distributor connector. When you do that it'll fire the coil. Don't worry about getting shocked...

    E3 plugs

And this is where they can get away with such ridiculous claims. I could pull 2 plug wires off and drive my truck around for a week then change the plugs and hook all the plug wires up and claim it got 3-4 mpg better I will admit some plugs do some better than others due to their design but...

    Car audio guy here....

Wow, there using DSP in car audio now? Man am I out of date! I've had a few ham radio's with DSP so I'm familiar with it. Sure makes a difference

    Car audio guy here....

I know there are purists that try to rule the car hobby with their "no modify" attitude but I have no issue installing an aftermarket stereo in a classic. I think it's up to the owner of the car to decide what's right and what's not. I'm 50 and when I was about 12 people started giving me old...

    Distributor question

Sounds like it's possibly running lean. Either got crap in the carb plugging a jet, the main jets need bumped up in size, or the vacuum secondary is opening way too soon. I'd wire the secondary's shut with a piece of wire so they can't open and take it for a test drive to see how it acts on just...

What is the highest amp rating alternator I can use on a 1970 Dart

When I rebuilt the electrical system in my car I installed a 60 amp alternator but I also replaced and upgraded everything in the electrical system to handle it including doing the ammeter bypass. I tried it first without doing the ammeter bypass and the fusible link connector got hot enough...

    Help, car keeps dieing

Actually the battery voltage should be a very minimum of 12.6 volts when the car isn't running because each cell is 2.1 volts (2.1 x 6 cells=12.6 volts) and charging should be right at 14 volts when the battery is fully charged. And I believe a 70 will have a dual field alternator. With that in...

    Help, car keeps dieing

Actually I haven't read very many of your electrical posts but I do know how to diagnose a charging problem just as you described. When I worked for Hyster electrical problems was my specialty. Only thing is I'm a hands on person, not always good at putting things in writing. For that reason I...
