Borgeson ps steering gear in early A- I got questions

I would assume that any of the factory issued pumps will work with it. I used a reduced pressure Saginaw pump for a better feel. As far as the lines go you just need adapters on the box as it has metric threads. Peter at Bergman Auto Craft carries all the bits you need.

Borgeson ps steering gear in early A- I got questions

I have the Borgeson box in my 66 with Doug's headers and a standard trans, no fitment issues at all. I used an adapter from Bergman for the shaft. It was a direct bolt in, snug but that's the way things are in the early Abodys.

photo of FirmFeel idler on Early A?

No problem Yes, I think you have an early B body idler arm there.

Here you go. What I did was mount the studs in the k frame and in the drag link then slid the idler arm and bushings onto the studs then installed lock nuts to just enable a bit of drag.

Stock weight distribution for various body styles - can you improve balance w/out drastic mods?

Here is the weight of a 66 Cuda, lots of lightweight stuff and additional lightened parts and pieces. As you can see pretty nose heavy even with the big back window.

1966 Barracuda FormulaS 6 Leaf spring ride height

Yes they were an inch lower than stock when new, they have sagged at least another half inch inch since then. They drive fine and through the curves work well.

Hellwig Sway Bar = WOW! What a difference!!

I agree with this 100%, I run the Mopar 1.14 bars, the 1 1/8 Helwig tubular front bar and the tubular Hotchkis rear bar and the Hotchkis/Fox shocks set on firm, Hotchkis rear springs with 245/45/17 tires and the ride is just fine in a 3196lb early a body. Its all about component matching.

    Saginaw Type 2 Steering Pump

Thanks. No I didn't have a cooler on it, had the pump shimmed down to about 650psi that might not have helped either.

    Saginaw Type 2 Steering Pump

I attended the Spring Fling Festival of Speed this past April at Willow Springs and had an issue with my steering pump. My type 1 pump that was maybe a couple of years old blew the top of the tank off. I think this was due to excess heat and the fluid expanded and with the cap not vented built...

front sway bar for early a-body

I have the Helwig bar on my car, easy installation. I had a Firm Feel solid bar in before and ended up using their frame mounts on the Helwig bar, works great and very light.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=63dAEd7BPic Here is my 66 cuda from last year, it has all the hotchkis stuff but 14" BFGs on the front and 15" BFGs on the rear, as you can see it was really tight. My advice is get a good set of low profile sticky tires and don't...

CAP suspension parts ( got me worried)

I purchased the Cap Auto upper and lower control arms and strut rods and looked at the welds and would never use them or sell them for that matter because of the poor quality welds. I did not like the thought of the aluminum strut rods after looking at them, looked a little light duty for my...

    Way Cool Lower Control Arms

I purchased the Cap Auto upper and lower control arms and the adjustable strut rods and must say they were the worst after market parts I have ever bought in my 30 years of building cars. The welds are the worst I have ever seen and I look at welds every day, the upper control arms are different...

    Pst? Firmfeel? Hotchkis? Worth it?

Well I didnt say I would beat one but I would not be afraid to give it a try, just something about the guys that drive them! The point being that with the aftermarket parts that are out there now you can vastly improve the handling of a 40 year old Mopar.

    Pst? Firmfeel? Hotchkis? Worth it?

It has aluminum heads and intake as you would expect, aluminum seat brackets, aluminum rear caliper brackets, aluminum front calipers, lightened bumper brackets, aluminum rad, lightened pedals, parts of the rear seat back and storage area cut out but still carpeted and a few more things. The...

    Pst? Firmfeel? Hotchkis? Worth it?

I have had a 66 Cuda for 24 years and have done many suspension mods. It currently has a Firm Feel box with a reduced pressure pump, Firm Feel upper control arms, boxed lowers, Hellwig hollow 1 1/4" front sway bar, MP 1.14 torsion bars, Hotchkis strut rods, frame connectors, Hotchkis hollow...
