Jo-Han models share your models and memories.

Like I said I bumbled my way through it. My kit was a somewhat later edition that wasn't as precise as the early ones. In the top pic, the engine is put together wrong. I had to do it over. I agree Jo-han was a very special company. The way the parts came stacked in the box was very well...

Jo-Han models share your models and memories.

I didn't build models much growing up. I didn't really have a knack for it. My Dad was a stickler and I never felt like what I produced measured up. But a while back after seeing a real Turbine car at the Gilmore museum and there was a thread on FABO about building models...I found a kit on...

    Revell "Visible V8" Model Kit

Wow Frankie you got some nice gifts as a kid. Were they difficult to build? Mine won't be for sale either.

    Revell "Visible V8" Model Kit

It is not a vintage kit. No light up spark plugs and a crank instead of a motor to turn it. I'm getting some valuable info online about some pitfalls of this Made In China kit. For one thing, the dies were molded to use sae screws and nuts, but this kit comes with metric. It is recommended to...

    Revell "Visible V8" Model Kit

I just received this kit, an awesome Christmas gift from a friend! My Dad got me this kit when I was a kid, but I was too young and he put it together and I only helped a little. My question is, has anybody built one? Was is really difficult to build?

Thanks Mike and that was nice of you to post the pic of the real car with the model car. I'm a novice and this was a challenge just to get done. Next time I'll be more confident and do some things differently. Thanks everybody for helping me get through this first one.

Question: what's the best way to 'wash' the finished car? From all the handling it needs to be shined up. The Turbine is finally completely assembled. Well except for the wheel that fell off lol. Just needs a few paint touch-ups.

    Shafers model car thread

Hi Paul, you see quite a few on ebay, I snagged mine for $34. Jo-Han reissued them a few times up through the '80's. The quality is not quite as good as the first run but still nice. They are a challenge to build though. If I get the engine/suspension assembly lined up and seated on the 4...

Still working on the Turbine car as we speak...never thought it would be this hard or take this long...but it's fun anyway.

Very impressive models for anyone, even more so for a youngster. Venturing off the instruction sheet is a talent not all of us have. I'm noticing how nice the paint jobs are on both.

Thanks for all the help I've gotten here. Today was a lot of painting. I tried to duplicate the real car as much as I could. Sorry if I'm being a bore but this is my first model so I'm excited....

Thanks I just gave that a try! For some reason, I'm having trouble getting the hood to turn out perfect, and that's the one panel you're eye is drawn to most.

Thanks that seems easier. I just don't have a silver one. Hey I glued the engine together wrong. How do unglue pieces without breaking them? Edit: fixed it. Note to other blonds: be sure you are ungluing the pieces that need it.

Experimenting with a way to 'chrome' the emblems which are embossed in the plastic. I carved up a makeup sponge, sprayed some 'chrome' paint onto a paper plate, put the sponge into the paint, blotted the excess, then lightly dabbed on the paint. I'm satisfied with it. I would rather have just a...

Need tips on avoiding orange peel. The bronze paint is a base coat and requires a clear top coat. The clear is Duplacolor and I'm having trouble getting a smooth finish. I should have picked a less conspicuous part of the car to get the hang of this but I painted the hood. I am on my third coat...

    Shafers model car thread

In progress.... The engine was 23 pieces and kinda tricky since I'm not familiar with the design of a turbine. The entire kit is 121 pieces, actually more since so many parts are in pairs... The front suspension was tricky too, it has coil springs and control arms and steering that all work...

Thanks, since it's not a functioning piece looks like I'll just glue it the best I can. It's my first model as an adult. I can't wait til UPS delivers the Turbine Bronze paint so I can finish it, and share some pics.

Wow you are a perfectionist, it's so realistic I feel sad looking at that Charger even though I know it's a model. I'm building my first model since I was a kid, and even back then I didn't build many...it's a Jo-han Chrysler Turbine, I have since learned this model is 'notoriously' hard to...
