Early A-body Forum - Last call

Thank you, the site helped me, and your car inspired me to have the back window tinted on mine.

Making My Dads Dream a Reality

Lost my dad a while back, I know it's hard, also he will always be with you in many ways. Don't worry about what "might" happen, it's a '66 Mopar the toughest cars made.

    The End and The Beginning

I wish this was April fools...hard to think about the most die-hard a-body fan and authority, not carrying around those familiar Chrysler keys anymore. Please stick around, Dan, because you are the rare person who we can count on to know what you are talking about. Oh and thanks for posting...

    Headliner

The station wagon rear side window gaskets as I understand are not being reproduced so maybe see if you can do the headliner with the glass in, taking your time. That's my $.02.

Just got a 65 Dodge Dart, my first mopar!

Welcome, old Mopars choose their owners, not the other way around, thats why it came to you. Get to know it awhile, make sure it stops and steers good, you can enjoy driving it just fine with the little bit of battle scars it has. Don't be in too much of a rush and please don't goof it up adding...

1964 Dart Owner - In Over My Head

It can help when doing a search to type in "Valiant" since now "Dart" gets you stuff for the new Dart. For mechanical parts which your Dart would share with the Valiant.

    64 Valiant Instrument Panel removal

It is a good idea to put some strips of masking tape or painters tape on your steering column so it doesn't get scratched when you are removing the instrument panel.

    Mattress for early Barracuda

Look at the other pages of the catalog in the link, so much cool stuff you could order, spot lights, truck a/c with roof-mounted condenser, door-to-door floor mats, "tissuemaster" tissue dispenser.

Steering wheel options for us Early A drivers

Just a thought, if you find a 3-spoke wheel but it's cracked, there are leather covers made by Wheelskins that have an improved method of lacing, they come in many colors and they give you a comfortable grip, I found it made the car more of a pleasure to drive and it looked good.

    65 Barracuda rear window tinting

I am skeptical, while it may work on that Corvette, the Barracuda window has a much more severe shape.

    65 Barracuda rear window tinting

I did some research at the site below (see post at the bottom of page 2 to get your answer.) I had the window out of the car at a good shop. I told the guy it had to be done in 3 pieces but he wouldn't listen and ended up wasting expensive film and a whole day. Finally he did it in 3 sections...

    Questions about a 66 Baracuda

On the bottom corners of that big rear window, there are small L-shaped trim pieces made of flimsy metal that cover where the lockstrip meet at right angles there. As for the windshield lockstrip, I always thought there was just one straight metal trim piece to cover the lockstrip since it...

    Questions about a 66 Baracuda

Let's see, what I can say for sure, is all the sheet metal except for the doors, hood, doghouse and trunk lid, as well as the bumpers, taillights, grille, front buckets seats, gage cluster and dash trim are specific to '66 only. Collectible?... not that I've seen, but they are great cars. Hood...

    Questions about a 66 Baracuda

Rust inside the cowl, around the rear window, the chrome strip along the top of the rear quarters, floor boards, spare tire well, behind front wheels. Just fyi the headlight trim and many other parts are one year only so if it has a lot of parts missing from it, that will be a challenge. I'm...

    Stirring up a hornets nest

A lot of people just enjoy belittling others choices, to make themselves feel better. You will love the performance of the 273 and the unique sound it has. Thank him heartily for his opinion.

    Cleaning vinyl

From experience I believe 409 is too strong. I used the Armor All cleaner with a soft brush, going slow and not using too much, and then using soft wet cloth to rinse with. You don't want the stitching to get soaked and weakened.

    Early washer pump location

I'm fairly confident the early-a's never had foot-pump windshield washers. But I could be wrong.

I'll just say I believe it was meant to be that you came upon this latest a-body and the seat cover.

just wanted to show off my new 64 dart

Yes, congrats, I'd be wanting to show off such a nicely kept '64, love the hood on those too. There was a thread recently where a member buffed out the original paint on a '62 Lancer, I bet you could bring the shine back on yours if you want to.

    65 Barracuda Push Button Help!!

I think there's a misunderstanding here. A-bodies did not have pushbutton start. '64 and earlier had pushbutton transmission selectors. You weren't born back then to know the features cars had, so the confusion is understandable.

    65 Barracuda engine swap

I know you're just getting a feel for your car, and for Mopars. You can see a small-block Mopar barely fits in the narrow engine compartment of an early-a such as yours. Since you asked for opinions, a 273 is a great, durable, advanced design, swapping in a Ford or Chevy aside from being...

1965 cuda fell in ditch help

I figured you're feeling down...that's what this site is for, start by getting the alternator back where it's supposed to be if it got knocked loose. Also get yourself a FACTORY service manual, not Chilton's or Haynes.

1965 cuda fell in ditch help

Just want to say don't freak out or beat yourself up too much, these things happen and it's not that big of a deal...you'll get some useful experience in the process. One tip if it's bugging you to see the damage, park it so the "bad" side is away from your line of sight...that's what I did...
