    Radiator Core Support Blackout

Every car got different quality and amounts of black out paint. I know a guy who did the job back in the day. It was an entry level job. As you can imagine, spraying paint upward from a pit with a wand like a weed sprayer was a pretty nasty job. So he said that if someone called in sick one of...

    tighten out side mirror

There is lock ring that holds the glass to the housing. You can get behind the end of that ring with a small screwdriver and remove the ring and then the glass comes out. Most of the ball retainers are held in with rivets though.... I have found that a couple of drops of superglue on the ball...

Black out paint behind headlight grill? - 69 Barracuda Formula S

I know a guy who did the job back in the day. It was an entry level job. As you can imagine, spraying paint upward from a pit with a wand like a weed sprayer was a pretty nasty job. So he said that if someone called in sick one of the first guys to leave their post to be a replacement was the...

    Installing 1964 Barracuda tail lights

Yes they originally had nuts with captive washers. I put additional larger washers beneath those nuts. Clipped the edge of some washers for clearance.

    Old Tyme Body Work

I agree with the comments above. I used to use oxy/acetylene and then once I got mig with gas there is no way I would revert to the old way. Borrow, rent or own short term a mig setup to finish your job.

    Detroit Muscle Technologies Windshield Gaskets?

Agree with all above. I got both gaskets from them based on past deals. They are Precision gaskets so the same product as 98% of the other suppliers but from a supplier who can be fully relied on.

Best product for treating old vinyl

I like this for vinyl tops, toneau covers, tires etc. One Grand Ext. Rubber & Vinyl - 16 oz Pump Spray I use this for the interior. It says its for tires and works for tires well but really excels for interior treatment. It's water based and doesn't leave the slimy shine like a lot of...

    Silver or Gold pentagram?

The pentastars were put on 63s too. The later cars had them factory installed but the dealers recieved kits from Chrysler to install them on the cars they had already sold. You can imagine how many were called back in to get a tiny emblem installed! The early ones were pot metal. Does anyone...

Do You Restorers Replace the Styrofoam Inserts or Just Throw 'em Out?

Rubber bumper pads for rear bumper. There is a rectangular hole with a spring nut sort of thing that these screw into. They hold the front corners of the rear bumper so they don't jiggle around.

    Help please, what is this?

I go to the craft section in WalMart and get the black foam in sheets, cut it to appropriate size and pattern and use spray headliner glue to replace the door seal. Works perfectly. I also use the foam weatherstrip from Home Depot or Menards to replace the top ring.

Favorite or best Brand of Windshield Rubber

Doesn't Precision make them and everybody else sells the Precision seals? I remember a few years back when there was a shortage of certain seals and the story from every supplier I called was that they were on backorder from Precision.

    64 barracuda windshield lock strip

Nobody is making an original style lock strip. Everybody sells the Chevrolet pickup lock strip which fills the gap but is not the correct profile and are only .50" wide instead of the original .535" wide. Most suppliers who claim to sell lockstrip for early Mopars are providing the Chevy...

    Clay Bar Vs. Plumbers Putty

That's old news to me. Back in the early 70s a guy that lived a few houses down the street from my parents used plumbers putty to shine his cars. It seemed that cleaning his cars was his main hobby and anytime the weather was decent he would be out cleaning and shining either his '68 Ford...

    Stripper.

Yes, the EPA had methylene chloride removed from consumer use toward the beginning of the year. All you can find on store shelves now is the "improved", and safer product. Check your can to see if it contains methylene chloride. If not, the product will probably not remove automotive paint. I...

Early A body hood scoop options

I had a 64 Barracuda with a 1/2 filled 340 block and an extra capacity oil pan. I had fenderwell headers so lots of underhood heat. I cut the core support and mounted a wide aluminum radiator but the issue was really not enough space for air to get out of the engine compartment. I ended up...

Early A body hood scoop options

Ya, the early As have so little under hood room there is minimal area for cooling air to pass through. And then when you fill part of that precious space with header tubes it is even worse. I have struggled with cooling a couple of times with early As even with good, large radiators and good...

Factory color scheme for front cross-bars and hood latches

I knew a guy who did that job back in the day. He said it was an entry job and not liked by those who did it. The paint was applied from below the car from a pit and was sprayed as the cars passed over with a wand similar to a weed sprayer. Paint drifted back down onto the guys and ventilation...

These guys have most clips on Mopars. Restoration Specialties & Supply, Inc. Online catalog isn't great but if you call them they will know what you are looking for. They are pretty Mopar savvy.

    Limp Mirror - Solution?

I've done the super glue thing many times. It's one of the few things I've found that super glue actually works well for. A drop or two on the ball and let it set up. It won't lock the mirror so tight you won't be able to adjust it either.

Mopar Battery "Look" on the Cheap

Thanks for helping me out with my CRS! I have talked to Jim at DMT and he is unable to find a supplier so he has settled for providing the style used on older Chevy trucks. Unfortunately I don't know of anyone else who could make it. It seems that there should be enough demand that someone...
