    Clean and reuse fouled plugs

When I used to race snowmobiles fouled plugs were pretty common. A spray with staring fluid, wire brush and lay 'em on a defroster vent of a running pickup until the next heat. Usually worked fine....

Anybody gonna watch today’s NASCAR race

No, I won't be watching. I lost interest back in the days when Harry Gant quit racing in the day and hanging sheet rock that night.

    Dodge to NASCAR?

If Dodge got back into Nascar would there actually be a part on the racecar made by Dodge? A part that you or I could buy from a Dodge dealer...?

    Trailer Tires

Wonder why the NASCAR boys and the mining companies with large earthmover tires spend money on nitrogen then?? Not supporting combustion is a plus for the large earthmovers (safety) and no moistures protects rims from rusting but pressure checking is a strictly followed procedure. Have the...

    Trailer Tires

Notrogen doesn't support water or combustion. It is more temperature stable than regular air. It is used on race cars, aircraft and large mining equipment for these reasons. 78% nitrogen, 21 % oxygen and 1% other gasses and moisture allow for a fair amount of pressure difference in relation...

    Trailer Tires

I also recommend the better tires. Check the speed rating too. There are many, many trailers being pulled quite a bit faster than the tires on it are rated for. For some reason a lot of trailer tires have pretty low speed ratings.

Aluminum bumper brackets, a new offering

I received my 64/65 Barracuda/Valiant lightweight brackets and bolts from Lingenfelter today. The brackets are things of beauty! If you want to shed some weight on your car I recommend Lingenfelter brackets and Jeff is a great guy to deal with too.

Yes, the .810 Bars at 90#/in are the lightest, part number P5249148. Slant six bars are .83 at 92#/in numbers 2071622-3 2535888-9.. If you need lighter than .810 custom might be the only solution.

    What camber caster gauge?

You will be much happier when you do it yourself. This is what I use. A home made adapter to fit an old Howe Racing magnetic gauge to whatever wheels I'm aligning. With the adapter I can use a digital angle finder or even a cell phone too. I'm kind of used to my gauge so that is what I...

    Checkout Caster and camber

I've got an old Howe Racing version of that tool and have used it successfully many, many times for aligning street cars. I did build a bracket to mount it to various wheels from 13" to 20". I find it easier than using a digital angle finder. I have four 1/8" x 14x14 steel plate squares and I...

    used 3.91s

I bead blast used gears lightly to remove the gloss. I can't imagine that the surface tempetature is raised enough to modify hardness. Plus, I've never see any detremental effects. I'm sure if you hit 'em with 240 pounds and a hard abrasive things would be different.

    Octane additives?

I used to know a guy who was a chemist for a refinery. He had a strongly built 65 Corvette and he would buy Toluene and Xylene from the paint store to mix with his gasoline to raise the octane so he didn't have to use race gas when he drove on the street. He claimed that those were the eight...

Oil pump question on my future motor

Of course it flowed more but I can't remember specifics. That would be his recommendation for loose clearances and/or really high revs along with published oiling system mods. But one of his main findings was in order to acheive higher volume one should start with supply to the pump inlet.

Oil pump question on my future motor

Somewhere I have an article about a Mopar engineer who did extensive testing on oil flow in small block engines back in the 70s. I have looked for it but haven't found it. When I do I will reproduce it and post the facts he discovered. One fact I clearly remember is that he found that a...

what's the point of total seal rings ?

The first gapless rings I encountered were from Child and Albert back in 1975. I put a set in a 340 and the guy is still running it. Those were the style with the overlapping ends. Supposedly eliminates any compression leak through the ring gap. I don't know if they provided any actual...

who has drove to the track and couldn't drive home(because you broke it)

Many years ago a friend drove his Mustang to the track and decided not to race that day as his car wasn't running well when he arrived. A short while after he had parked talked to a few buddies and then gone to the stands there was quite a commotion and the fire truck headed out. He looked...

    7 1/4 rearend

The poor little 7-1/4 breaks behind slant sixes if you get one wheel spinning. (like on a little bit of ice around a corner and then it grabs some traction) I've gone through 7 of the one leggers on various cars. What size electric fan?

One thing to remember with these fans is they pull a LOT of current. Like up to 35 amps on high. Be sure to include a fusible link in your wiring and appropriate size wiring so you don't experience a metdown or wiring fire.
