    9" or 10" drums...?

Slants got 9 inchers, V8s got 10s. Discs were optional. Your '70 318 should have the 10 inch drums as standard equipment. Check the 5th digit of the VIN. If it is a G The car should have 10 inch brakes. Hope this helps...

will 14 inch wheels clear fmj swap

My '77 Roadrunner had 14" rallyes on it and 10.87" rotors. I am not aware of a larger rotor option being available on the FMJ bodies. The ones I worked on with 15" wheels (Super Coupe, 5th Ave., Dippy) also had 10'87" rotors. Hope this helps...

    1965 master cylinder

Good catch eestatic. Looks like my beloved master cylinder has been replaced with something the rebuilders can get. The one I am used to had a 13/16" bore and was a real peach. Should have known that something that was only used 1 maybe 2 years wouldn't last forever. Haven't bought one since...

    1965 master cylinder

The Dart calipers will play well with a manual master cylinder. They have done so in 4 cars and counting for me. Guess which master cylinder it was...

    Help me identify my spindle

A bodies never had 11" drum brakes, Period. They had 9" and 10" drums and Kelsey-Hayes discs up until 1972. From '73-'76 they had the same drum choices but the discs were 10.87" slider caliper units. Here's my thinking. We have a frustrated member who may or may not give up the hobby based on...

    Help me identify my spindle

Easy way to tell them apart that can't be disguised. Look at the back of the spindle. If the spindle looks pretty much straight from top to bottom and the top ball joint boss is in line with the axle spud, it is a 10" brake spindle. If it looks like the spindle has a dogleg in it and the top...

    1965 master cylinder

I used a '74 B body manual disc master on my '66 Valiant. It's a one year only with a small (13/16") bore that feels like a boosted system...

    pedal has play?

Actually what you have circled in the pic should have one end of a return spring attached to it. The other end of the spring goes to the pedal mounting bracket...

    manual drums to power drums

Actually did this on a '66 Valiant when the old single pot master cylinder went out. Drove it around for about 6 months with the stock drums before I could swap on the discs. No booster, zero problems. What makes this work so well is the 13/16" bore in the Charger master cylinder...

    power brakes

Get a master cylinder for a '74 Charger with manual disc brakes. Feels just like power brakes and all you need to do is swap it for what you have now and bleed the brakes. Costs around 50 bucks including the core charge...

    Part number help

72golddustermike, thank you for looking this up and posting a source we can use. When I was looking for this the only source I could find was some jerk in Texas who thought his parts were solid gold and raped you on the price and then again when he sent it to you. 69mope, what does it matter?

    Old Goldie Brake Issue

NEED INPUT! When the rear brakes were locking up was it both brakes or just one? Did you use all new parts when you rebuilt the rears, including emergency brake cables and wheel cylinders? Were the calipers new or did you use the ones that were on the car? What color were the pistons in the...

    Backing plate offset

It all boils down to how bad you want to keep the SBP wheels. The 8 3/4" rear has 5 studs in the housing end and the 7 1/4" has 4. You can either drill the 5th hole in the 7 1/4" backing plates or knock that stud out of the housing end. Assuming the 7 1/4 " rear had 10 inch brakes they would be...
