Anyone ever try to mount one of those to an early A? Probably look pretty cool. Not sure if the contour is close.

Paint Tomorrow Need suggestion's on Paint color

Just pick a timeless color that won't look tacky. If you are going for the vintage gasser look then pick a color that won't look gaudy. If you want to resell it I guarantee you will have a better chance of selling a blue and white two tone car versus a candy green metallic one.

Sometimes if wax and grease remover is not thoroughly wiped dry and there is residual there it can cause it to fisheye really bad. Good ol dish washing liquid and water is sometimes the best.

Yea the Harbor Freight purple gun is amazingly pretty damn good! At 30 bucks use it for a while and toss it! Good luck bud.

    what seam sealer?

Maybe you should look on their website and see how they advertise their product as "indestructible over any surface" yea I understand that its for use over rust but I'm not the type to slop paint over some rusty *** metal and say " look all better and shiny!" So I guess rust is the best base for...

    what seam sealer?

Everybody rants and raves about POR. They should call it POS because I never liked the way it worked. For the floor pans I guess it's ok but on the frame or suspension parts, funk that. Use a roll on bed liner. Not only will it hold up bitchin, but it will also act as a sound deadener. Your call...

    start of body work

I stripped all of my factory undercoating off and used SMART brand truck spray liner and lined the entire bottom of my car. It's a bit messy but is stronger than any other crap on the market aside from taking it in to a Linex dealer and having it done. 120.00 for the kit and 60 bucks for the...

    start of body work

Autobody tool mart has a good selection of materials to get you started. 400 for a strip is cheap. You are going to spend at least 150 just on **** to get started stripping and its an unpleasant mess. Soda blasting gets in all the little spaces sanding or even chemical stripper won't. I've...

    start of body work

Prep the door sills and jams the same way you do the rest of the car. If they are peeling and look like **** they need to be stripped. If they are really nice and clean you can hand sand them, prime and paint. How nice they come out depends on how far you want to take them.

    start of body work

Yea just do it a panel at a time and don't rush it!!! It is a long tedious process but its really rewarding in the end, especially when someone asks you " who did your body and paint " and you tell them "I DID BITCHES!" That is the best! Post pics and if I can be of any assists nance let me know...

    start of body work

Use a good self etching primer from SEM to cover the small spots. The right way to do it is strip the entire car and epoxy prime it before doing anything bodywork wise. The epoxy prime will protect the metal from rust. Do your bodywork over the epoxy primer( scuff it real good first) then when...

    start of body work

40 grit to strip? Maybe if the car has 2" of mud on it. Unless you plan on skimcoating the entire car to fill in the gouges from the sand scratches I guess that's ok. 80 grit it what I've always used. Granted if there are areas of thick bondo, grab a hammer and chisel and knock that **** off.

Paint Gun Recommendations for a semi-pro

Honestly I don't have much experience with the w400 but as far as I can tell not much difference at all. W400 they say is popular with mural guys so maybe it was a different adjustment as far as pattern width is concerned. Stay with the lph400 and you'll be dialed. Amazon has some decent prices...

Paint Gun Recommendations for a semi-pro

I can honestly say its 80 percent technique 20 percent gun. I met this guy recently who was turning out some jobs that would make your jaw drop that was using a binks cup gun because that is what he felt comfortable using and knew how it reacted to different types of materials and different...

Paint Gun Recommendations for a semi-pro

I also run the lph400 but can honestly say I have done my best jobs with my Finishline hands down. I have about 8 guns along with several Iwata's with conventional gravity cups and swiveling cups (which are no longer relevant) but there is something about my Finishline that is my fallback gun...

    POLL-Paint or undercoat?

I Linexed the entire bottom of my car with SMART brand liner. Looks beautiful and acts as a sound deadener and is strong as hell. Plus it looks great and is easy to clean.

    Prepping Bumper for paint.

Good luck with the 60 grit. You are going to score the **** out of it then have to remetal finish it again. Do it with 120 with a DA a flap wheel is going to F-bomb it up. Good luck.

    Prepping Bumper for paint.

Unless you have some massive rough areas don't use 80. You will sand scratch the hell out of it. Are you going to scuff and paint? What's your plans? Fairly rough areas I'd hit with 180 but other than that 320 then 400. Use a self etching primer then paint.

    Unlimited fibreglass hoods ?

Redid one from AAR for a guy about 2 years ago. Look like the buck was made by a 5 year old. It's fair if its a race car and you don't care about fit and finish but I would still consider another brand. Not sure how their quality is now that ownership changed but I would assume not much.

    Alternative To Bondo?

Evercoat rage or rage gold is what I use. Bondo lasting long has nothing to do with the brand it has to do with the proper prep work. If you have to cake it on then you are not doing it properly. There are other brands through autobody tool mart that are reasonably priced that I'm sure work just...

    chrome

There are several in Southern California that basically take yours as core trades and give you another set. I believe one company is bumper depot. Last I checked it was 600 for both front and back. A lot of places have closed down due to EPA regulations so I would assume most of it is done south...

If this is just a nice driver and not a full blown show car, save your money on your base and clears and go with omni or sherwin Williams. You are going to she'll out a pretty penny for any DuPont orPPG but if your prep work is poopy it's still going to look like a shiney turd. I've been using...
