In theory the 1.6 would be better as the lifter and pushrod dont move as much. But in practice no difference. However with 1.5 you can always upgrade to 1.6.

If you have smaller jets,try em! No harm in it and you will know what changes. You might also try spacers to modify when the spring kicks in or out. Again wont cost nothing but time and you will learn what changes what.

I gotta say. You know when you got something sounding bad (knock knock) its not a wise move to continue to run it in an attempt to diagnosis it. It can quickly go from a bad bearing to a burned journel to a hole in the block. That's mo' money. And nobody wants to spend more than necessary.

Best plugs for finding your tuneup are ngk. 5781 I think it is. -10 I use but that is cold. You may want a warmer plug.

Well that sucks. Just a thought. I would consider painting them. With that paint they use in lifter valleys to help oil drainback. Thinned out to get into the pores.

Yeah a little late there. Then I read the rest of the thread. How do you install the manifold/seal the gaskets? When I get one that's a pain I weatherstrip that gasket to the manifold. And use form-a-gasket to seal to the head. Drastic perhaps,but it works for me.

That fuel on the q-tip was oil,gas would have evaporated.
