    transmission fluid

I use non-synthetic Dexron III or IV can't remember which. I was told by Cope Racing to not use synthetic in the old Torqueflite. Perhaps with modern seals , synthetic is o.k. Whatever you use, don't buy the cheapest.

Wanted Green 39 tooth Speedo Gear

Look on Ebay, seller: tflite patty. He has all kinds of speedo gears and there is a chart on his auctions that will give the P/N of what you need.

    trans linkage

Surprised no one with knowledge on the subject has replied. I'm thinking someone makes these parts for big block Darts. Otherwise, you gotta fab. your own. Perhaps Bill Rolik Enterprises or Mega Parts USA.

How much stall is to much for a mainly street car

Which of course leads to with or without a stall converter If I understand the question, go with a 2400 rpm stall converter. I have barely any experience with performance engines. I'm learning the hard way (so what's new). Anyway, I've got two vehicles with small blocks, both have similar cams...

    904shift problem

If you can get proper shift points, then perhaps you should look at this problem as: no part throttle kickdown. Troubleshooting guides are available online for such symptoms. I do have the FSM for a similar engine/trans. setup. I can read through it but, I may not be able to answer for a few days.

    Leaky 727

I might be missing something here in the conversation but.... you're saying there is no tab spot welded to the dipstick tube? That tab would be secured to one of the bellhousing bolts. (in most instances)

First round of questions - 727 rebuild

It's a lot easier than it might look at first. Good advice from the guys here. I'll second what they're saying. Take lots of pictures. I kept a notebook handy made lots of notes and wrote in it key bits of information from the Munroe book so I didn't get it dirty. The instructions from the...

First round of questions - 727 rebuild

The center shaft on the input and the output shaft. I used a dial indicator. Don't remember how I attached the gauge to measure output shaft play. I have pictures from my rebuild. I think I have to use an online source like Flickr to post pictures or become a Gold Member to upload images...

First round of questions - 727 rebuild

Special tools: you will need some drifts to install some sleeve bearings( very similar to installing cam bearings in the block. I made my own from steel rod using a big lathe. Some auto parts houses sell universal drift tool kits. I personally found it easier to pull the engine and trans...

First round of questions - 727 rebuild

I did not use a slide hammer. I made a brace that fastened across the open end of the bellhousing. I used that brace to hold the dial gauge to measure the end play . Also put 2 long bolts through the brace and threaded into the pump housing. Simultaneously turning those bolts lifts out the...

First round of questions - 727 rebuild

I strongly recommend you get the transmission book by Carl Munroe. Cope Racing sells it and I'm sure it's on Amazon.

    TCI Transmission is bad

I've only read part of this thread but, I'd like to mention Cope Racing Transmissions. CRT. John Cope knows MOPAR transmissions. That's all he does. Good service, thoroughly answered my questions, quality parts.

    Kickdown cable recommendations?

While on this subjectI have a question about throttle pressure linkage, that I guess I could answer myself but, seems like the braintrust on FABO has a fairly good grip on things. If you have a stock small block w/727 auto. Runs, shifts great. Later you replace the intake with a high rise. The...
