A833 O/D What will it handle?

I ran one for years. I also broke a couple before I figured out not to speed shift. There great for cruising or going on trips. Its good for showing off making burnouts because low gear is so low. JUST DONT SPEED SHIFT.

    833 identification

If your wanting MPG go with the OD in my opinion. I ran one for years the only problem was I would get carried away and it wont stand up to abuse like the 833 will. I am running a stroked 340 in a 66 Dart and maybe a little to much abuse.

This one came up just over the carpet turned toward the passanger side for about 4 inches then turned up and angled back to the center. The shift knob ended up about the same place as the one shown above. The car doesn't have a console. Ill get a picture next time I see him. The one posted above...

    76 aluminum case 4 spd.

I had my alum. guts all put in a cast iron case except i kept the alum. tailshaft. It now has the 41/2 in front input shaft. My problem is it wont take much hard shifting. By the way its for sale went back to the old 833. I just tried the Alum. tanny because i was going on some of the power...

Crossmember cutout for duals 65 4-speed

Why do you have to cut the crossmember at all. Ive been running duals on my 66 Dart GT 4 speed for 40 years no cutout crossmember.

    Creating an A-833 OD

They do give you a lot better cruising speeds. I got 17 mpg with 4.10 gears and 6 pac going to the nats last year. Just dont try speed shifting with any kind of power. They wont take it.

    Another Noobie Question

Unless your wanting gas milage I would stay away from it. I put one in my 66 Dart just for crusing. Ive driven to the nats (1600 miles) and got 17 mpg with 4.10 gears. As long as you dont hammer it like speed shifting it will work. I know ive been there. They are good for just everday driving.

I used a heavy duty set up . like out of a taxie. I dont remember all the details but this let me run a 10 in clutch . Its been a long time ago. Check out a Taxi set up for the same year and motor as yours. That tranny is heavy I think 125 lbs, Like the man said get the car up as high as...

    Pistol grip shifter

I put one in mine from a E body. To keep from hiting the dash in 3rd i just made a 3 in long adapter and bent it back so your hand doesnt hit the dash. Its covered by the shift boot. Works great been in there for several years.
