    Are All 340 Blocks the Same?

    I have 2 340's , a 68 and a 70 , and both are pretty bad as far as the shift . The 68 wall thickness is terrible . The 70 is an AAR block , but you can see it has problems .

    Marvels mystery oil . Took a slant six locked up solid and it was running in 3 days . Same thing with 2 VW engines .

    If I could get that kind of money , I'd sell both of my 340's for that much . Stick with a 360 . Any salvage yard will have 'em for a 1/3 of that price .

    Cracked block....recommendations?

    I had a busted block 383 magnum in my Charger for years . It was split up in the lifter valley . I had a professional weld it up , and even 10 years later , I never had a bit of trouble with it . Its still sitting in my garage waiting for another B-body to make it a nice new home .

    Can it be fixed?

    I ran a 383HP for ten years with a broken lifter valley . Block was fixed by a good machine shop . Still good for 410 HP . Still in the garage waiting on another car to go in . It outlasted my Charger !!
