They are owning up and claim they fixed it. What I don't get is how you go from leaking to no leaking and there not be a rebuild in between. They brought it somewhere to have it fixed. My guess is I will have to have it rebuilt sometime in the future but at least I am getting my car back.

Also tires don't wear evenly so it is possible that if you have not been rotating religiously they are just out of balance.

I don't I have to go with what the "body shop" is saying. As I recall there should be about 1/8 to 1/4 inch of the shaft exposed on the outside of the pulley. Does that sound about right?

I have a question. I would love to put a set of frame connectors in but my welding skill is sub par could they be bolted in? I am thinking there is no reason they can't considering the rearend is essentially bolted in.

Are you sure they aren't designed to have a reservoir?

I went to the garage to see if I could find pamphlets that came with the gear. Could not find it but I decided to see if I could see anything and I found the bolts holding it down are a bit loose. I think tightening them will resolve it. Posted via Topify using Android

It is a rebuilt which I believe has a warranty. My car is an early a and new are hard to come by. I don't want to have to pull it again especially if it something like a setting.

The play is between the steering wheel and the steering gear.

Basically as the subject says I changed the steering gear and it was good for a few days. I now the steering is very loose like nearly a quarter turn of the steering wheel before the assist kicks in. Supposedly all the settings wereset to factory settings.

Just giving an update. I got it out. A 1 5/16 socket fit perfect. The I used a large pitman arm puller. After that the three bolts made it easy. I left the top passenger side loosely in place just in case it wanted to fall forward. Next thing to tackle is to clear the bay and prime and...

I do have the puller just no socket large enough to fit the nut. As for replacing the pitman arm its actually 125.00 for my car but when I had the car aligned 2 years ago I had the entire front suspension gone through and the pitman and idler were rebuilt and the tie rods were replaced.
