    Had the same problem on my 340. Had to adjust the timing so far forward that the vacuum advance hit the manifold. I pulled the distributor and backed off the oil pump shaft 1 tooth. I then moved the plug wires to the new locations. Worked for me.

    First set your balancer to TDC then Back your cam- oil pump shaft back a couple notches with a big flathead screwdriver and reset you plug wires on the new rotation worked for me.

    I changed the oil and filter and was pleasantly suprised to see the pressure was back to normal. I will pass on that additive next time. Thanks guys for the input, you ROCK!!! :burnout:

    Possible, i used an additive for breakin by comp cams, a graphite based additive could do this? Plugs are all in no severe oil leaks, just a little here and there at the timing cover.

    This is a wierd one. New motor, .030 360, no exterior oil leakage, starts up and goes to 80+ psi. Begins to warm up and drops to around 60.     Boy you got that one right, I scrapped out my 273 after the 340 went in the 65 barracuda and the very first thing to go was the crank. This guy was just peeing a ring around himself to get it for $80. He just washed it up and dropped it in his 318 happy as pie.

    I here you man I had a Edelbrock torker 340 on a 340 and had nothing but problems, changed back to a stock 340 cast intake and my life was so much better. Now I have a Edel. Performer on my new 360 and I'm back to the same ol same ol. I guess I should have learned the first time.

    I have a pair of 65 273 heads leftover from an engine swap. Would it be worth it to recondition these heads of just off them as is? They are closed chamber with the small valves, but look like they would breathe better than the J heads if I change the valves. Any advice?
