So most mopars very in deck height. One side can be taller then the other. If the block was not decked couldn't that change the cr from one side to the next ? If the pistons are closer to the top because one side is shorter maybe that could be the difference?

The closest you will get stock imo would be a 73 B body Road Runner, Sat , GTX ,Charger as far as stock. I had a 400 in 73 Duster I can't remember specifics. I just went by trial and error, but I had alot of parts to pick from.

So I was looking around and see that 440source makes a stroker kit for a 383 that makes it a 496. I have had small blocks for so long now and not payed much attention to stroker big blocks.

I was just bringing up a point on the low deck big blocks, with strokers being so cheap theese days . I think any big block in an A body will make for good times and a fun ride !!!
