My lockup 904 case busted a chunk out at the bellhousing area. I have a nonlockup trans sitting here. I want to keep the lockup setup. Are the 2 cases the same? I will be doing a complete transplant.

Do the obvious first- check to make sure all your linkages are still connected. Then, fluid check. Make sure no one pulled a prank and jacked your car 2 inches off the ground-lol. Next- pull pan, sounds like you have a bad low/reverse band. Kind of strange that it did that without ever slipping...

He is selling me 2 904 transmissions for $200 because he is a chevy guy and he keeps "tripping" over them. I just want to make sure they are the same 904's as a cars' 904's. I dont want a low geared 904 or one that wont fit.

Dont think the linkage is binding. I actually have all new linkage bushings in it. I didnt think the kinkage could bind or twist in a way where it goes back around to reverse. I pulled the valvebody out yesterday. Shavings are all over. Maybe some shavings are stuck in the valvebody-I think this...

Thanks-maybe Thursday when I have the day off, I will go and take out the valvebody. I heard its about 10 bolts and drops right out. Im just afraid of a spring flying into no mans land-never to be found again. lol

Nothing out of the ordinary. Magnet-Ive seen worse. Im thinking maybe pieces from the old filter or a check ball sticking. Hopefully just a checkball and sitting overnight may loosen it up. Maybe a somewhat kinked fluif cooler line? Other than that??
