$60K will buy an already built nice, fast car.

    340 X Head Value

Not from the same era, but how do Magnum heads compare to X heads since the "best factory small block head" has been mentioned a few times.

    SB Stroker Intake Choices

I ran one on my Edelbrock headed 340, it took a bit of work to port match, but it worked well. IMHO, it's borderline small for a stout stroker, that's why I recommended the Victor. The Victor that I ran on my 408 took a ton of grinding to port match, it had a lot of core shift.

    SB Stroker Intake Choices

For a performance stroker I'd never run a dual plane, ever. In the OP's situation I'd run the Weiand and be looking for a used Victor.

    360 stroker questions

Mid 11's should be easy with a 408, my 340 went 11.60 @ 116 in my 3260# Dart. It was 11.4-1, pump 93, ported Edelbrocks, port matched Victor intake, 236/242° @ .050", IIRC the lift was in the .590" range, 4.30 gears and 275 radials. It liked being shifted at 6400. A few years later I put the top...

    Big Inch Smallblock

When I hear guys stating that long stroke combos can't rev. I always ask, "what do you considering high rpms"? The answer has been all over the place.

    Headers for a A body

I believe you're over thinking it. Buy the car, make sure it has a good tune in it and enjoy. If you want to upgrade, make a plan, then start accumulating parts to achieve your goal. When you have everything needed then tear into it.

360 flat tops wirh Edelbrock heads

Please show me where the OP mentioned an 1800 rpm converter in his first post. Kinda hard to have a converter with a stick, LOL. 3.55's wouldn't have been a problem with that 340, probably could've got by with a 3500 rpm converter..

360 flat tops wirh Edelbrock heads

My Edelbrock headed 340 was 11.4-1, all I ran was pump 93. The cam was 237/242° @ .050".

    SB vs BB who wins?

    What about the Suzuki's?

    SB vs BB who wins?

I prefer small blocks, just because I prefer them. LOL I'd like to put mine in a feather weight car and see what it would do, it's been 135 in my 3292# Dart, on pump 93. It really doesn't fit the spirit of discussion here though as it's 434".

    SB vs BB who wins?

Al has and has had some very nice cars, he doesn't do anything half arsed.

Ultra Gray or Ultra Black RTV

I use the copper because I have a bunch of it, and it works well. I let it cure for a couple days then take a utility knife and trim along the intake.

    Turbo'd con-rod preferences?

I ran Eagle SIR rods in my n/a 340 with no issues but wouldn't consider them for a boosted application, decent rods aren't that expensive.

387” W2 Stroker, What should I upgrade next?

I agree, it's money and time wasted. I switched to 4.30's from 3.91's and only picked up a few thousands in the 60' that it carried through.

Be careful putting these engines together

Several years ago, a younger guy I know built a nice Edelbrock headed 408. He had the heads ported, a good solid flat tappet cam, good crank and rods. He installed every piston upside down. The engine fired right up and immediately bent a bunch of pushrods and valves. I had offered to help or...

I'd make sure the tune is good, then put in a set of 3.55 or 3.91 gears.

Brett Miller is the MAN when it comes to small block Mopars! Good guy too.

Sounds like a nice little engine.

I thought it was interesting. Dyno numbers don't really mean anything anyway, right?
  27. justinp61

Sounds like a nice little engine.

I saw this on FB the other day, it would be interesting to see how it runs. The build is similar to mine, it has 1/8" less stroke and .010" more bore then mine, the cam has .029/.011" more lift and 14/15° more duration than mine. My heads have 220cc runners with 2.100 intake valves. Their power...

Advice: Solid Roller or Hydraulic Roller for street car

If I were the OP, I'd be looking for a Magnum 5.2 or 5.9, he could probably pick up a decent engine for the costs of a solid roller set up.
