sb collant leak at timing cover??

I have found that the blue Fel-Pro timing cover gasket have more of a tendency to leak than the black ones do. Take it for what it is worth.

    86 Black Roller 318, swap/interchange into 72 318

You can't use the 72 heads on the 86 block if you are using the factory style roller cam. The roller cam heads have a .660 diameter pushrod hole while the flat tappet blocks had a .500 diameter pushrod hole. The roller lifters are longer, requiring shorter pushrods which puts them at more of an...

    86 Black Roller 318, swap/interchange into 72 318

I bought a 72 Barracuda from an old girl friend many moons ago. I got it real cheap, 318-broken crank. that is the only one I have ever seen.

    86 Black Roller 318, swap/interchange into 72 318

Partly because roller cam retrofit to a non roller cam block is more expensive. Solid roller will be most expensive. It all depends what you have planned for the car. If I was using a 318, I would use a hydraulic roller cam. If you use your 86 block, just buy a cam for that and stock replacement...

You could drill the hole in the back on the right side intake flange between the back 2 bolts going into the water port on the head.

    Aftermarket valve covers and intakes?

I just used stock 273 valve covers on a 360 with a Holley Strip Dominator. The SCE thick gaskets worked fine, didn't have to do any grinding.

    Aftermarket valve covers and intakes?

I know the 273 and the 318 valve covers don't have as much of the intake cut out as the 340 and 360 valve covers.

    Aftermarket valve covers and intakes?

Both of these gaskets are .313 thick, FelPro 1646 on Summit is 41.99 and at Rockauto they are 37.79. The SCE AccuSeal E gaskets 169076 from Summit are 27.03. Keep this for future reference. I just used the SCE gaskets, and they worked out well.

I think SCE also has the .313 thick gaskets, I don't remember the part number off the top of my head.

    Blueprint crate engine

I didn't read all of the posts-the early rearend has the keyed axles with the nut on the end. Also it has no parking brake features. The parking brake is on the end of the transmission.. A few years back, I helped a friend install a 68-70 B body rear in his 58. He had to move the perches in a...

Gasket sets. Pre 1985 and later than 1985?

Ask your machinist on enlarging the holes, I'm not sure if it's possible. I think aftermarket aluminum heads have oval pushrod holes.

Gasket sets. Pre 1985 and later than 1985?

Why are you using early heads on a roller cam block? Are you using a roller cam? Roller cam heads have .660 inch pushrod holes, where as the early heads only have .500 inch pushrod holes. If you use a roller cam, your pushrods will bind in the pushrod holes. If you are using a flet tappet...

    Roller LA cam into Magnum?

I thought the Roller cam LA and the Magnum had different oiling holes in the cam itself since they don't oil the same. Look in a Comp Cam book or a Lunati book and the Roller cam LA cam and the Magnum cams have different part numbers, So-I don't think they are interchangeable. Tell me if I'm wrong.

Magnum vs LA oil filter plate

I know the answer. At the end of the roller cam LA's, 1991 318 and 360 Chrysler changed the threaded boss on the block-it was shortened by 0.250" and both the plate and adapter were modified accordingly. This was called the new corporate oil filter. so all of the Magnums were the new style, I...

You're right. Quite a few years ago there were some other coasted lifters-Schubac, something like that. They too-were very expensive. You could run them on different cams and more.

New Comp Cams coated DHL lifters

I just seen that Comp Cams has a new coated lifter DHL. Maybe, they aren't new, but I guess I haven't noticed them before. I'm not sure if they,'re available for Mopars, but the price on the Chevy lifter is over 1900.00 a set. I guess I won't be buying any of these anytime soon

    LD 4B tells a story...

I had posted a while back about their ports not being consistent in size, and they are fatter and shorter than the 318 and 273 head ports. I think Edelbrocks have always been that way to a certain extent. The Holley intakes have always looked very nice, coming from the Winters foundry. Compare a...

    Engine mount carnage

A chain wrapped around the motor mount bracket and around the k member with a piece of allthread. Leave 1/8" play, no transmitted vibration and no broken motor mounts. Knurled Crank Snout???

I have a good story, some will laugh and some will say O My God. 35 years ago, I had a 318 built using some used 340 parts and other new parts. A cousin of mine was a Chevy guy, that was into stock car racing, the circle dirt type. He decided to start using 340's, he did everything half assed...
