My Valiant has a Passon built 4 speed in it. Shifts super smooth. The guy knows what he is doing.

This sounds spot on to me. I've run into this before. Fortunately, I had an old Mopar guru teach me about this before I banged my head against the wall.

Depends on your goals for the car. If you're into drag racing, then great, go for the automatic. But I like to take my car up in the hills and run it through the twisties. Gotta row your own in that case.

Swap in an 18 spline disc or have a new 18 spline hub put in your existing disc.

FYI - I read a post recently on Moparts that Jamie is looking for a 63-66 a-body factory 4 speed car that is local to him to test fitment of the 5 speed. Maybe somebody here on FABO has one that he can use.

Don't mess with the McLeod. Get a Centerforce Dual Friction. I love mine. Easy to drive and it doesn't slip when I beat on the car. The only downside is that you need to break in the CF Dual Friction disc before you beat on the car.

Yes, but they are a special shoulder bolt which locates the pressure plate on the flyweel.

My Barracuda had a factory inland shifter which I replaced with a factory Hurst shifter from a 68 Dart. The Inland shift rods work fine with the Hurst. An aftermarket Hurst may be a different story.

I'm not sure. I know that the 3-4 shift arm on the side of the trans is turned upside down. Ask Jamie at Passon Performance. All he does is A833's. http://www.passonperformance.com/

Dave, Another trick you can use (if the trans goes in far enough connect the clutch linkage) is to get it close, then have a buddy press the clutch pedal. This will allow the trans to slide in if the disk is slightly misaligned.

I'm thinking about one of these for my 66 Barracuda for when I install my hydraulic clutch setup rather than having a stock bellhousing machined to fit the bearing retainer I have to use for my hyd setup. fstfish66 - are you having problems with your QT bellhousing?

Can you elaborate on this? I've heard that the McLeod hyd TOB doesn't work with Centerforce clutches. Do you have part numbers?

It wouldn't, provided your machinist knows what he is doing. The only problem is that the Tilton unit has threads where the bearing threads on. It might be difficult to get that right. I think the amount of hours involved to machine a retainer would be more expensive than swapping cases &...

Here you go. These are the factory shift rods from the Inland shifter that came on my car from the factory. I have since swapped in a Hurst shifter, but the rods are the same.
