    Inland linkage, Hurst shifter?

They worked perfectly fine on my 1966 Barracuda. Plugged right into the Hurst, no problems.

    Keep breaking 3rd gear

Post #30 and #35 most definitely are pictures of the Passon 855. The OP even talked about the overdrive.

How did you get your hands on a Passon 5 speed so quickly?

    Passon performance 5 speed

I don't get why people would lose interest just because it's taking a long time. I guess it's because we (as a society) have developed an attitude of "I want it now!" Is the idea of a bolt-in 5 speed overdrive transmission less bitchen today than it was 4 or 5 years ago?

    Passon performance 5 speed

Not assuming. I've been following his thread on Moparts since the beginning. He is having everything made in the US. No Chinese junk. Is he in over his head? Probably. But read the update on Moparts. He has piles of parts to assemble but had family issues. As far as letting the 340 sing, go...

    Passon 4 speeds

My Valiant has a Passon built 4 speed in it. Shifts super smooth. The guy knows what he is doing.

4 Spd slight grinding when shifting.

This sounds spot on to me. I've run into this before. Fortunately, I had an old Mopar guru teach me about this before I banged my head against the wall.

    Passon 5-speed

Depends on your goals for the car. If you're into drag racing, then great, go for the automatic. But I like to take my car up in the hills and run it through the twisties. Gotta row your own in that case.

Swap in an 18 spline disc or have a new 18 spline hub put in your existing disc.

    Passon Performance 5-speed

FYI - I read a post recently on Moparts that Jamie is looking for a 63-66 a-body factory 4 speed car that is local to him to test fitment of the 5 speed. Maybe somebody here on FABO has one that he can use.

    which clutch has smoothest engagement?

Don't mess with the McLeod. Get a Centerforce Dual Friction. I love mine. Easy to drive and it doesn't slip when I beat on the car. The only downside is that you need to break in the CF Dual Friction disc before you beat on the car.

    pressure plate bolts

Yes, but they are a special shoulder bolt which locates the pressure plate on the flyweel.

Inland shifter rods versus Hurst - a difference?

My Barracuda had a factory inland shifter which I replaced with a factory Hurst shifter from a 68 Dart. The Inland shift rods work fine with the Hurst. An aftermarket Hurst may be a different story.

    a 833 od linkage

I'm not sure. I know that the 3-4 shift arm on the side of the trans is turned upside down. Ask Jamie at Passon Performance. All he does is A833's. http://www.passonperformance.com/

    4 spd Installation tricks

Dave, Another trick you can use (if the trans goes in far enough connect the clutch linkage) is to get it close, then have a buddy press the clutch pedal. This will allow the trans to slide in if the disk is slightly misaligned.

    SFI bellhousings

I'm thinking about one of these for my 66 Barracuda for when I install my hydraulic clutch setup rather than having a stock bellhousing machined to fit the bearing retainer I have to use for my hyd setup. fstfish66 - are you having problems with your QT bellhousing?

    Hydraulic Clutch

Can you elaborate on this? I've heard that the McLeod hyd TOB doesn't work with Centerforce clutches. Do you have part numbers?

    Need 4-Speed console shifter measurements

There's one on eBay right now. You don't see these often, so someone should jump on this one! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cuda-Dart-Duster-Mopar-Hurst-Console-Shifter_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33736QQihZ003QQitemZ130193977406QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

    Need 4-Speed console shifter measurements

You are confusing the more common Inland shifter (you're right, they're crap) with the Hurst shifter, which is what his drawing shows. The factory Hurst console shifters for a bodies are NOT all over the place. You can find them, but they are by no means common. I was lucky to buy 2 in the early...

    Flywheel dilemma

The externally balanced cast crank 340s still used a neutral balanced flywheel. Only the harmonic balancer has a weight on it. They were able to take care of the balancing with just the weight on the harmonic balancer. The easiest way to check the flywheel is to flip it over. If there are no big...

    Hyd. TOB Kiesler- Any News?

Thanks! You can try contacting their custmer service department and see what they say about it. I wasn't in direct contact with them, I'm getting this info from my friend, so I don't know exactly what is and isn't machined on their "blank" bearing retainer.

    Hyd. TOB Kiesler- Any News?

It wouldn't, provided your machinist knows what he is doing. The only problem is that the Tilton unit has threads where the bearing threads on. It might be difficult to get that right. I think the amount of hours involved to machine a retainer would be more expensive than swapping cases &...

early a body shift rods? need pics!

Here you go. These are the factory shift rods from the Inland shifter that came on my car from the factory. I have since swapped in a Hurst shifter, but the rods are the same.

    Hyd. TOB Kiesler- Any News?

My buddy got an email from Tilton. They told him they have no intention of making a bearing retainer for the smaller bolt circle. They say there is no market for it. They do have a blank retainer that you can have machined. We're exploring ideas such as having one of those machined or swapping...
