Rear sway bar for 1964 plymouth valiant

FWIW, The Red Brick, aka "Tim's Valiant", which is quite possibly the best handling torsion bar and leaf spring Mopar out there had 40+ year old stock 340 rear leaf springs. The rear suspension was very compliant. I wish I knew what happened to it. It changed hands twice since I sold it, but I...

Opinions: Fast-ratio manual steering, suspension upgrades

My 66 Barracuda had a 16:1 manual steering box in it for 25 of the 27 years I owned it. It was not that bad to drive. Parallel parking in the city? Yes, it's a bit more difficult. You learn to never turn the wheel without the car moving. Regarding torsion bars - the 1" FF bars I put in were...

    65 BARRACUDA HEADERS?

I got a set in 2 weeks. The key was to get them shipped COD. That was a long time ago. Never installed them. I sold the car, then sold the headers on CL for $400.

    Questions about a 66 Baracuda

Don't buy an early A for its collectability. They don't bring big bucks when selling. Buy one because you like it.

Wilwood Brakes, Wheel Size, decisions, decisions

Are you absolutely sure you want Wilwoods? Dr Diff has kits to mount Viper calipers on 11.75" Cordoba rotors that should fit a 15 inch wheel. I put those on the 66 Barracuda that I used to own. 15" cop car wheels cleared them just fine. Might want to research your options before pulling the trigger.

Maybe look around for another hood. In addition to the rust, yours is cracked.

    Used solid rollers

If you know what brand they are, you can send them in for rebuilding. If not, I would say buy new ones. If you are running them on the street, you want something like Comp Endure-X that oil the roller with pressurized oil, not just splash.

'65 Valiant. Will 15x7 wheels, 205/60/15 tires fit?

Don't remember what the backspacing was. They were standard 15 x 7 cop car wheels, so you might be able to research that online. I sold the car in Oct 2014, so I can't take any pics for you.

No hate from me. I lIke them a lot. I was an early a owner for 27 years.

    Rare Car

Just because they are asking $28k, doesn't mean they will get that. Doesn't matter how nice it is. It's what the market will bear. I don't see the early A bodies going up much. They are sort of a red headed step child.

Can't fill my A-Body gas tanks

Danny, Yeah, 90 degrees. I put the nozzle in, turn it so the hose end of the nozzle points toward the bumper and push the nozzle in so the bellows is tight (you have those in your neck of the woods, right?). Then Pull the handle slowly and try to meter the flow so it goes slow. Don't try to...

Can't fill my A-Body gas tanks

Try turning the nozzle 90 degrees and see if it works. Fixed the problem on my 66. I do it with my Valiant now. Works great!

    Dodge Dart Appraisal

Having just sold my 66 Barracuda last fall, I can tell you that you won't get $10k for that car, most likely. Hate to burst your bubble, but it's the truth. I had a LOT of interest in my car, but most people wanted to lowball me. I finally found the right buyer who knew what I had and could tell...

    63/67 valiant ( not mine )

Sounds like a car that was salvaged, rebuilt and retitled in 1967. Or possibly brought into CA in 1967. You used to be able to buy salvage title cars in CA, register them out of state, then bring them back into CA as clean title cars. They stopped allowing that a long time ago. Whatever is up...

    63/67 valiant ( not mine )

Only illegal if it was intentionally titled as a 67. If it was a clerical error, just chalk it up to human error. Did the seller explain the back story as to why it is titled as a 67 or did they just say it was titled as a 67 and leave it at that? For instance, when I had the form filled out...

    63/67 valiant ( not mine )

Could very easily be a DMV clerical error. Having recently gone through the hassle of registering an out of state car in CA, I can tell you it's no picnic.

    1965 Barracuda: What's It Worth?

Let's see some pics! I can tell you that I got 5 figures for my 1966 Barracuda recently, but it took a while to find the right buyer even though my car had a ton of mechanical upgrades done to it. It is very hard to get decent money for these cars. I held out for my number and finally got...

Disc Brakes on Early A's - What solution did you choose and why?

I did Viper calipers on Cordoba rotors using AR Engineering adapters when I did my big bolt pattern conversion so that I could mount the calipers in the rear and keep my existing sway bar setup without having interference problems.

smokin not in a good way

Small block Mopars use umbrella type seals. The intakes fit tighter over the guide, but the exhausts just kinda float on the valvestem to sling off the excess. Got photos of the type you are referring to?

    early A strut rods question

They are too short for an early a. They are made for the later a-bodies. I bought a set for my car, found out they were too short and sent them back. Getting Rid of the Hood Torsion Springs on the Early A-Body

Good to see you back on here, Dave. Your garage sounds like it will be cool. Post some photos as it gets built. In case you haven't seen it, check out http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/. It will be cool to see you get back to your Valiant project someday.
