    The factory filled voids in the castings all the time. I've seen it on many pairs of Mopar heads. Also, a Helicoil properly done is stronger than the original threads. Check to make sure the valves seal and bolt 'em on!

    If it were mine, I would get custom pistons and hone it with torque plates. The difference between how well an engine honed with torque plates runs vs one that didn't use them is noticeable.

    Definitely. It should be the first thing that gets done after cleaning & magnafluxing. Also, the rods will need to be reconditioned before the new pistons go on.

    Was the block decked? Were the heads CC'ed? You can't assume that the compression is 10:1 or whatever unless you actually measure everything and do the calculations. As far as the cam, I know there are a lot of Purple Shaft fans on here, but they leave a lot to be desired, in my opinion...

    Uh, you missed the point that I was pointing out that your statement makes no sense. The exhaust opens near BDC after the power stroke. The intake doesn't open for another 180 degrees (give or take). How in the hell is opening the exhaust too early going to contaminate the next intake charge...

    The above statement shows that you clearly don't understand when each of the cam timing events occur in a 4 stroke engine. Do you know when the exhaust valve opens (generally speaking)? Is it near BDC or TDC? When does the intake valve open? Near TDC or BDC? Research those...
