Anyone ever have a freeze plug pop out??

@ch1ll post a picture or link of that tool you used to install the freeze plug.

I don’t have one, my engine builder does. Here is one summit racing sells. The idea is the shoulder on the tool drives against the top rim of the plug not hitting the bottom of plug that would change the outside diameter and lessen the press fit. They have to go in tight. It’s almost like installing a spring without stretching it and loosing its recoil.

You could make them out of aluminum bar stock like my engine builder does if you have a lathe. Its the same way you should press bearings in.

This is why I use an engine builder that has over 30 years of machining and assembling race winning engines. He has the experience, I do not, I was a moldmaker(tool and die) and thats different like black and white to an automotive machinist. I know what he does to a T, but I don’t have close to the knowledge or experience he does. Then again I can cut a plastic injection mold and he would be lost.
