    1970 dart hood hinges

They have been painted as I need color match. I’m hesitant with lube, did try to on the second set but obviously unsuccessful. If you have suggestions I’m open to hear, i now have a third set and don’t want to wreck them like I did the last 2!

    1970 dart hood hinges

They are unstable and I’ve bent 2 sets likely due to the coiled springs binding.

    DArt Hood Hinges

I am getting my *** handed to me over the hood hinges on my 1970 Dart. These were poorly designed to start with and I cant seem to get a set to work. Has anyone here created a replacement product that they would be willing to share thoughts on with me? Ideally they would utilize rams and lose...

    door glass

You should also know that there are a number of pieces involved which do wear over time, specifically some plastic rollers that may need to be replaced. You might not notice if you aren't looking for it. Good luck!

    70 dart fender extensions

Thanks, I understand what you are saying. However the extensions I have the"studs" are not studs at all but are actually cast as part of the fender extension. Repair would require that the existing material somehow be "built up" to allow re-threading, something I hear has been done but am not...

    70 dart fender extensions

The units I have are pot metal and the studs are in need of repair. I was hoping that someone hear might have repaired some and be willing to say how it was done. Instead I have people tell me they have lots of fiberglass ones with studs which are correct but nothing more. Just a bit...

    Grill work

A few thoughts, it painted and you would like t o repaint it. It is a type of plastic so your are correct to be leary of using chemicals. You are concerned about scratching it so not certain about sanding. If you don't sand it (scratch it) the paint wont stick! Sand the thing using...

    Fiberglass Hoods and Fenders

Not certain on A bodies, but for my T/A which has a more traditional hinge the spring is significantly smaller diameter. Even withe the lighter springs after about ten years the hood had a big bow due to the springs always pushing on it. I took the springs off in the fall, let the hood sit...

    70 dart fender extensions

News to me, learn something everyday I guess as the ones I have are exactly as you describe, crap. Are you saying you have a pair of fiberglass ones with functional studs you would be willing to part with? If yes please let me know, PM if you like. Thanks

    70 dart fender extensions

I am at the point where I am reassembling my project and the front fender extension studs are bad. Has anyone here ever repaired these and if so could you please give me a hint of how that was accomplished? I have looked for replacements and haven't had any luck, now looking for FABO to save...

    Fiberglass Hoods and Fenders

One item to note is the cars which came with fiberglass hoods used a different hood spring. The alternate spring was lighter weight as the hoods tended to curl from spring tension.

    Hood adjustment

The A body hood hinges are a piss poor design, adjustability of this is not accounted for. I am trying to figure a best method of replacing mine with something different and will watch this to see if anyone out there has "been there/done that!". Other car models adjust this issue by moving the...

    how much paint????

Probably 3 quarts, depending on how many coats you apply where. White will cover nicely and you could probably get by with two coats in which case you may use less, bit I like three.

    Windshield sealing? lock strip

I have a 70 and it had a lock strip in the seal when I removed it. Based on the condition I am pretty certain it was factory. The lock strip is places into the grove of the seal and expands it so it seals, you do NOT want to put sealer on these, just put some soap onto the lock strip and push...

Yeah, I screwed up but will this work?

I wouldn't call you stupid over this and it is likely not so serious as you think. I would expect that if you hit it with an orbital sander, then spray a good sealer on it followed by a high fill primer, sand the primer and then more primer if needed you will be likely near ready to paint...

how long should paint dry for stripes?

This is Highly dependent on what type of paint used and if your paint include a catalyst or hardener. If you did not use these items you must definitely wait, even if you did you should talk with your local rep, they are usually a well informed resource.

    Paint Runs!!!!!!!!

Hopefully you used catalyst in the paint? If yes then you will need to respray the area. Does it have clear on it? There is no way to get the metallic run effect out yo just have to cover it with new paint, just let the old cure and if a catalyst was used it is cured, if no catalyst was used...
