Is building a stroked 318 better than a stroked 340/360?

update. Still need an engine for my 1941 Plymouth, so I'm still going to build a stroked 318, just won't go into the Duster. My goal was to get information on a stroked teen' motor and got the questions needed. Though it was not originally set in stone, it was more than informative and gave me...

Is building a stroked 318 better than a stroked 340/360?

love the info and ideas on this build. have some updated info: A friend of mine needed a stock 318 for a driver. I'm going to give him one of my engines. The same friend has a contact with a 360 engine I can get for nearly noting and has speed parts on it. Decided to use the 360 block, pan and...

Is building a stroked 318 better than a stroked 340/360?

Nah dog, that block was for someone wanting to push four digits with little worry. I’m contempt with enough horsies to have fun and be dumb and just do my thing. Not trying to be number one at every stop light, expressway merger or Even if I see a random mustang owner. 318 might be worth...

Is building a stroked 318 better than a stroked 340/360?

Well that was a bust. The yard said they had a 360 in and fresh, but guess they can’t tell a dodge 360 from an AMC 360 out of a jeep. Guess I’ll just keep looking for more info on 318 builds. I do have an early date 1971 318 that would work for a good core block. Has less than 45k miles on it...

Is building a stroked 318 better than a stroked 340/360?

Appreciate all the input from everyone. Just got a call and another 360 engine came into the recycling yard. Going tuesday to see if it's a good core.

Is building a stroked 318 better than a stroked 340/360?

Can’t afford the hemi, and was thinking big block, but the huffer showed up and would be a cheaper build plus headers on a big block duster with power steering gave me anxiety Just thinking about it.

Is building a stroked 318 better than a stroked 340/360?

Rumblefishy360, I deal with scrap yards in the hood where they destroy motor homes and salvage vehicles and that’s where I get my core engines. The cranks in anything that is cast is usually bad. Because these are crack shacks and rarely in good condition (unless there was a lab inside) are...

I held the flashlight for my dad way into my teens, so I'm sure I can handle it.

Is building a stroked 318 better than a stroked 340/360?

that's one of my concerns is that the 318 is weaker at some point than the other blocks. Thank you for bringing that up. maybe someone can chime in that that is a weak point that needs to be addressed.

Is building a stroked 318 better than a stroked 340/360?

Selling a ‘73-340 because it has a cast crank is crazy unless you’re looking to consistently make over 600 hp in a racing condition. Since the cast crank has proven itself very well for street AND racing duties save all out efforts, I feel that is a bad move. Sorry. If the state of the block is...

Is building a stroked 318 better than a stroked 340/360?

I have been selling 340 blocks and engines for $800-$2500, buildable cores. I sold my last two because they were 1973 units with cast cranks. I figured if I have to order a crank for the 318, may as well order a stroked one since they are the same as a std crank. Cost wise, building either is...

Is building a stroked 318 better than a stroked 340/360?

With the blocks, bore size is not too much of a concern. 22 inches between a 340 And 318 and they both use the same rods and only have two bolt mains, sounds like a few cu in won’t affect hp. The plus side, if I windowed a 318, its not an expensive block.

Is building a stroked 318 better than a stroked 340/360?

So I was planning to put a 440 in my 73’ Duster and decided to sell off all my small block stuff and did so over the weekend. At the same time, I was offered a deal on a torquestorm supercharger for a small block and think it might be a fun little combo for the duster instead of the RB engine...

68' Dart Hood clearance w/MP 360 crate engine

I have the 360 Magnum 390HP crate engine that I want to drop into my 68' dart GT. DOn't know it that tall intake will clear the hood. I want to run a vintage MP chrome unsilenced aircleaner, so not sure if the hoolly carb combo will clear the stock flat hood. Has anybody installed one of these...
