I think if you look close it is held in with just one screw not hard to remove. then you can bend it and trial fit it until its to your liking. I did mine but didn't like the wheel afer a couple of years and went back original. I may have the lever around here somewhere.

Disconect from motor and run it by hand thru its motion and see what is binding. I'll bet one of the arms bent when they fell off. just straighten it out and it will work fine.

I'm told that the 76 had a cat-converter and that was the reason for the floor change? I do know that in order to get more coverage on the SFC I had to add strips of metal in some areas. John at US Car Tool sold me the connectors,he did mention that they might not fit correctly on the 76.
