The big thing when making that crossmember is driveline angle. Get yourself 2 spirit levels, and an angle finder. Since you will likely have to make the crossmember with the new transmission in place as a jig of sorts, you will need to do a few things. Firstly the car needs to be dead level...

He has a deep sump transmission pan, that's why it looks the way it does. The stock pan is less than half that deep.

I wonder if this could be made into a sticky like the one about the explorer 8.8 rear, or added to an A500 A518 sticky if there already is one ? Mods what say you?

Just in case you wanted anymore closeup pix, here they are. Notice how the cable mounting bracket at the trans is tall routing the cable above the rear cooler line. I believe this is the ram van bracket. When I get out in the shop today I will eyeball it and see if it has a part number stamped...

I ran into a few issues routing the cable for the kickdown away from the rear cooler line. To this end, I picked a couple cable support brackets out of the boneyard and believe that the dakota cable works best with the B350 ram van cable bracket, kickdown lever and springs at the trans end The...

Hope some of these pix help. The trans lines were from a 1999 B350 ram van. I cut them, and 37° flared them for AN-6 B nuts. Pix showing the braded steel flex lines I made from there to the Derale trans cooler thermostat are in the mockup pix in second group of photos. Your trans cooler will be...

heres an overview of pix from my google archives on this trans install. No floorpan in the way so I reinforced the crossmember with 1/8" steel after trimming it. I also have pix of the 3/8 trans line, and kickdown cable setup, as well as how I modified the shifter rod for Mike and myself. I'm...

One would think so, however maybe because they built the kit for trucks with the A518, they dont have any experience with the smaller A500 and dont want to sell it and possibly end up with returns if it doesnt work. I'd be willing to give it a shot, or just mount 2 manual operated switches like...

Glad it worked well for you. I have not assembled my car with the prototype one, so that bodes well for my engineering.

I asked I asked PATC if I could buy the 46RH controller kit, and use it on a 42RH. They told me it would not work on a 42RH. I did not want to spend that kind of cash to find out it doesnt work.

I posted an awful lot on fitting this trans with a stock auto on the floor linkage, trans lines, trans cooler, cooler thermostat, kickdown linkage etc. I included what parts I used off junkyard donors, and decent pictures to follow when doing this swap. See my build thread "67/68/69 cuda...

    8.8 swap

I can tell you this, the brake line connections on the ford side are SAE, not metric thread. The only metric hardware I found on this axle was the caliper mounting bolts. That it. I cut the old flexable brake line tabs off the axle when I cut everything else off when shortening it. My plan was...

    8.8 swap

I got the housing done, never mocked up the lines, since I started doing the sheetmetal work, and the last 2 years this project has just set on the jack stands collecting dust in my shop. I have had a pretty rough last 2 years, so my heart is just not in it at the moment. Sorry.

    pinion angle

With my car dead level front to back on stands with spirit levels on the rockers, when I was building my trans mount for the 42RH. I used an angle finder on the carb base flange on the intake manifold, and another on the front of the engine block machined surface. When the carb base flange was...

    8 3/4 bolt pattern question

I agree, but want to add also that you can roll the lip, and with the right offset, easily fit a 275-60R15 in there. Same inner and outer wheel houses as a 67-69 barracuda. I bet you can even fit wider without modifying the wheel houses on it. Once you cut n move the wheel houses, and spring...

    8 3/4 bolt pattern question

82-89 Chrysler M body rear brakes 10"x2.50" from backing plates out will bolt up to the 8.75 axle, and parking brake will hook up. Go to Doctor Diff for A body width BBP 8.75 axles. All this is direct bolt up and will give you the larger bolt pattern, 1/2" studs, and all the brake parts are...

    Transmission pan gasket effective?

I bought a deep steel pan with a drain plug from a jeep supply place. Was $50 came with neoprene gasket, extender plate for the filter and a new filter. Best of both worlds. New heavy gage steel construction, holds extra quart, and has a drain plug.

    Speedocable leak and question

Mark one tire, jack the car up, mark the driveshaft. Turn the driveshaft by hand and count the number of full revolutions and part revolution you have to turn the driveshaft until the tire makes 1 full revolution back to where it started. In my case 3.73-1 means the driveshaft will make 3.73...

    Speedocable leak and question

Heres why they have different tooth count speedometer gears. It's to match the speedometer to the tire diameter and rear end ratio so it reads correctly. See handy chart below. My car uses 25" tall tires and 3.73 rear gears. According to the chart, it needs a 39T speedometer gear to keep the...

    Ford 9" in 1965 Barracuda...an option?

If your trying to keep it original down to the SBP cragars w redlines, then I would look for an 8.75 mopar SBP axle and bolt it in. If you go for the ford 9", redrill the axles, and drums for your 5 bolt 4" circle and put 7/16" lug studs in it.

A body BBP axle length for 8 3/4"

Use 1984-1989 M body brakes from backing plate out. They are 10x2.5" finned drums. The backing plates will bolt to the 8&3/4 rear axle. Dr Diff has BBP A body axles. Ask me how I know all this.

    Quick 8.8 narrowing?

Please double check your lengths to be sure before cutting. The piece I cut out measures 2&3/4" however I cut inside of my marks on the axle. My discs measure 1/16" thick x 2 cuts. So the actual shortening I did was 2&7/8" when you add in the cut off disc thickness back in to the piece in the...
