    How Race Cars Die

That would make a great cruiser weekend street rod with a 408 under the hood. Get a glass windshield, make it street worthy and drive it. $1200 I bet they would take a G for it.

    Transmission Cooler/Cooler lines

300hp mild 318 , 42RH and 3.73s. Will be street driven fun car, not all out racer, this setup should be more than adequate. I figured I'd post in case as anybody wants to duplicate all or even part of what I did. The hard work is done, I even left space between the radiator and cooler for a...

    Transmission Cooler/Cooler lines

Its steel 3/8" fuel line. Used a 37° single flare. I didnt read that far in the instructions, however I think its pre set to 180° so it just loops back until it hits set temp, then goes through the cooler. The extra cost mounting bracket from Derale looked cheezy so I made my own that's much...

    Transmission Cooler/Cooler lines

Used 3/8 tube, and added a trans cooler thermostat. Not running the 42RH into the stock radiator since those fittings are 5/16" and the O/D unit requires lots of fluid. Used some nice pre bent 3/8" hard lines I got from a 1999 B350 church bus in the junky. Direct bolt in, right down to the line...

Idiot light questions from a dummy

I hope that oil pressure line isnt plastic. You might want to use at least copper for that. If it breaks, its gonna hose everything down with hot oil. Jegs and summit sell the copper line kit for cheap.

You can buy chrome valve covers and get them powdercoated with transparent red, blue, or yellow and approximate that anodized look but with durability.

Are traction bars ever right on a Mopar??

The whole point of a pinion snubber or traction bar or other similar device is the same thing, to reduce spring wrap up, and wheel hop on a hard launch. Chrysler back in the day incorporated a factory pinion snubber as a traction aid and to prevent the axle from wrapping up too far and causing...

Are traction bars ever right on a Mopar??

It hasn't changed 1 bit with putting performance stickers on stock rides. We have all no doubt seen all the Japanese cars full of performance stickers for their generation, and all they have on it is a cold air intake, and a fart cannon on the back along with a sheetmetal wing bolted to the trunk

Are traction bars ever right on a Mopar??

For people using a for 9" or an 8.8 theres no spot for a snubber. I will be putting under my sons car some Jegs screaming yellow traction bars. I plan to take those and paint them black.

Small block Trickflow heads and PRW rocker arms ???

Subscribed. I have speed masters and am considering the PRW rocker setup. Heads are different than the trick flows but may learn something from this thread. Just an FYI, I am guessing your magnum block was drilled for the oiling passages that go from the cam bearings to the heads for the...

    71 Dart 408 vs 71 Duster 410......

Heads up racing event. Both Dart and Duster drivers are 300 lb fat guys. Duster driver gets bariatric surgery now. Loses 100 lbs before race night. Gets the hole shot on the dart guy, wins by a 10th of a second. Moral of the story. Dont count out driver weight too.
  23. moparmat2000

My 70 dart thinks she's fat.

Look for all the "low hanging fruit" so to speak. All the stuff you can remove or swap out with lighter components. Is it gonna be a street car? You will still need horns to keep it legal. Get a single Hi Note plastic horn off a late model chrysler vehicle, ditch the cast aluminum and steel dual...

My 70 dart thinks she's fat.

I agree, however with weight reduction using aluminum you can get that big block down in weight quite a bit. Although you can get a small block down even lighter with aluminum parts.

My 70 dart thinks she's fat.

Oh I almost forgot. A mini denso starter off a late model ram truck, and a mini denso alternator.
  26. moparmat2000

My 70 dart thinks she's fat.

Ditch as much cast iron pieces off that 472 as you can. Use a B/RB aluminum water pump housing, aluminum heads, aluminum intake, aluminum water pump, aluminum radiator, ditch the power steering for an aluminum manual chuck, remove your heater box, all the carpeting, spare tire, jack, trunk mat...

How would you build a low 10’s street car

10 second car is barely steerable. Why in the hell do you want to butcher your 68 barracuda fastback into that anyways. You will do that, then realize you built essentially a drag strip only car that's sucky and not very enjoyable on the street. Just go buy a car that's already been back halved...
