    73 Duster build named Fred

How does the air compared from Vegas to your home track? The 200lb lost was prob worth .14 of your pickup as my cars seems 100 lbs make a .07 difference in the 1/8th.

    Is this car worth 8000

I've seen more $ asked for worse. Pros: Appears like a solid body Has entire drivetrain Cons: Been sitting a while, and personally I would have to at least regasket the engine and trans so see what they are and make sure things are right at the min. May need new fuel lines Brakes lines may...

Sneaking in without a roll cage

Depends on the track and how well or if they actually do tech. A roll bar is required at 11.49 1/4 mile, a roll cage isn't required until 10.99 or 9.99 if your floor and such isn't all cut up. I wouldn't run a car without proper safety equipment, but most tracks if it's your first time there...

Who was the guy looking for a drag car.

Been a few pooping up on my facebook the last few weeks. I see a chassis Daytona I saw last week. Definitely some deals out there if you have some extra $.

If you don't need the hood clearance, I'd go with the flat hood.

    Do you rotate your slicks?

I tried rotating my slicks every few weeks about 10 years ago. I did this for a few months than quit doing it. Really didn't notice any difference other than the work to swap them around.

I have no experience with Glory Days end products, but a few years ago he bought a Maverick off my wife to start making molds for Mavericks. Might be worth a shot to contact him to see if he can make the hoods, you guys want. If he has the mold for the hood, changing the scoop may not be to...

    Lightweight front bumper brackets

With the way the steel bumper is bent, I don't think factory brackets would've helped any. What did you hit?

    Going Powerglide

I think it really depends on the combo, but if the convertor is matched properly I think it should run the same, must may slow down your 60', but pick up mph.

    Seat Belt Cert Questions

For the cheaper belts its usually just as cheap to buy new belts. If you have the fancier expensive belts it may be cheaper to have them recert. Usually when I get belts from Jegs or Summit they are 1-2 months dated in advance. Being yours was 6 months old, they must be old stock that wasn't...

Out of curiosity what are the cost differences

I think one of the big things that deters some people is I think when your in the 9s you need a 2 layer fire suit, full face helment, gloves, neck collar? I'm not 100% sure on it all as I'm not where near that close, but seems most that run 9's have those items. But it really depends on the...

    Preferred Coolant Temps

For my cars that I've raced thru the years both BB and SB setups on either pump gas or race gas/pump gas mixture this is my procedure. I warm the car up 45 mins or so before time runs by driving around the pits and get engine temp up to 190. For a run I try and pull out of the staging lanes...

Small Block Chrysler Racer Brown camshafts

My dad got one last year after he waited over 6 months for a Howards came that the delivery date kept getting pushed back. At that time it was $400ish for a solid flat tappet and lifters from Racer Brown. Good guy to deal with.

    Big safety changes coming

I agree with this change as it's for the better, but will it be enforced? I mean they don't even enforce they rules they have now.

Hope its nothing major, but being it happened without much running makes me wonder if it was a weak part, or something go over looked during assembly.

    Race engine winter storage question

When I used to store my car in the car trailer all winter long I would change the oil in the spring. I always seem to get some condensation/moisture on the underside of the valve covers. I'd usually do this a month or so before the season started as I'd check over things and check rockers, etc.

How much weight gain from adding a Dana and roll cage.

Cage weight will depend on material. Chromo moly is lighter than mild steel, but also cost more.

How much HP and what do you think it will run.

My guess would be around 625 hp and should run high 9s, low 10s if everything is sorted out.

Hoosier Quick Time DOT Burnout Question

We ran the Mickey Thompson version of these 20 years ago. We just drove thru the water box and stopped and proceeded with a normal burnout like a slick. Basically once you see a little smoke roll out from the burnout. They worked well for us, but we used them on a 67 Plymouth Belvedere that...

Let’s have a drag strip Christmas tree discussion

As a footbraker I've always had to slightly adjust to each track for the lights. I did try a box for a brief time and ran 2 tracks with it. I don't remember but the delay in the box was different for both tracks as well. When talking thousandths of a second no 2 timing systems are going to be...

Victor heads with dual snorkel scoop

It's really going to depend on which intake you use. Than if you want to run an air cleaner you may need a drop base, etc depending on how much clearance you have.

My son Matt is tied for 5th place at Summit Motorsports Park

That's how most tracks and big $ races are, but the 2 tracks I race at the buy backs go right into 2nd round with everyone else. The one track even gives you extra points if you lose 1st rd and buy back and win. You actually get more points than if you lost 2nd round without buying back.

My son Matt is tied for 5th place at Summit Motorsports Park

I get and understand the purpose of buybacks. Not totally against them, just prefer when there's not. I'd bet that 60-70% of races that are won anymore are from a buyback racer. They either screwed up 1st round or flat out just got beat. They get a chance to redeem themselves, where 1st round...
