This is probably correct. Lack of proper surface prep has been the primarary cause of many a bad paint job blowing up. Contaminants left behind due to improper surface cleaning cause many paint issues. Tank sealant isn't paint true,but the same procedures would apply.

Wow thats really steep for a new tank,even in Canada. Spectra is the maker of new tanks,they are made here in Canada. I suggest you shop around,because $270 is a really perverse price. Even with shipping ,one from ebay will be less than that. Good luck,and I think it's time your son switched...

Xylene I have used. Up here it was $5.00 per gallon,so to make 99.5 octane in a 20 gallon tank,you need 6.6 gallons of xylene. Thats $15/tank. No idea what it cost's now.

When it comes to pumps it's location. Most are better at pushing rather than pulling.So the closer it's located to the fuel the better. And yes the pump being higher than the fuel is a problem.

I think we are talking about adapting and improving the tbi system,not using it in stock form. At least that would be me anyways. That chip burner is looking more atractive..

Not where I live Rob. I can go for a 10 minute drive and change elevation by more than 600 meters. That's about 1800 ft. You wanna see how a carb act's at 1600 mter's above sealevel when it's not tuned for it? Lol,tbi doesnt care whether it's sea level or the moon,your car will run the same...

Im sold on tbi myself. As I said before,the daily use thing has taught me that tbi is far more reliable than any carbed setup could every be.
