This isn't a major contributor to why it isn't any quicker, but why did you go with the Dana 60 behind a 318? The Dana is both heavier and 'eats' more horsepower than an 8.75" rear end. I bet it may have cost most than an equivalent 8.75.

Maybe not rare, but too nicely original to heavily modify. Your car, your money. But I'd keep and modify the slant as you see fit. But nothing that couldn't be put back to original. New seat cover to bring the interior back to stock appearing and new vinyl top. New wheels and tires and...

I'll be doing the same thing when my Dart comes back from paint. I'm going to center the 275/60/15 tires and wheels in the wheel wells and then measure wms to wms and then get the B-body 8.75 rearend narrowed accordingly - also will get the leafspring mounting pads relocated to fit the offset...
